*Emmie's POV*
"So Skylar, have you been alone all this time? You don't look very old." I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Nope. Nobody can survive alone anymore, not even before the outbreak," she told me. "And I'm nineteen."
I heard rustling coming from the woods below us but ignored it. They wouldn't be able to get to us anyway, we were perched up in a tree for the night. I laid my head back on the truck and sighed.
"So I'm guessing that you don't wanna talk about it," I said.
"No......I'll tell you my story, but you have to tell me yours," she said.
I thought for a moment. "Deal."
She looked at me right in the eye. "Where do I even start?" She let out a long sigh. "Well the night it all went bad, I was with my dad, sisters, and my niece. I knew how to shoot a gun so I was the one to do all the 'dirty' work. Well.......one day we wee gonna move to this apartment we found and I had to clear the way for my family. We turned the corner and there was a herd. I guess you know what happened next."
"Did they-"
"I don't exactly know. But I assume they died," she said with a hint of sadness in here voice. "But that was a long time ago."
I walker passed by below us so we stayed silent for a moment. When it was gone she asked, "so what about you?"
So I told her my story. Everything that has happened science the day for the outbreak. When I was finished she was speechless.
"So who did you lose?" She asked.
"My dad's sisters, my moms sister, my moms dad, my sister Addie, my brother Henry, my brother Michael-" she stopped me.
"You don't have to go on. I don't want to make you sad or anything," Skylar said. "Well, you get some sleep."
I nodded and closed my eyes, thinking about everything.

"Get up! Emmie get up!" Skylar yelled and shook my shoulders.
"What?" I groaned.
"Look!" She pointed down.
My eyes practically popped out of my skull. A herd of walkers were heading our way with their eyes set on us.
I quickly untied myself from the tree and packed it into Skylar's bag. "Hurry!"
She climbed down with me right behind her. I ran as fast as I could with my ankle but it didn't work out. Within a few yards of running I fell to the ground. Skylar hadn't noticed so she kept running.
I started to get up when I felt something grab my bad ankle. I screamed as loud as I could and Skylar skidded to a stop. She started running back to help me.
I tried kicking it in the head but it wasn't working. I let the tears flood out of my eyes and I felt the teeth of the walker pierce the skin of my ankle.
