"Hiccup." Valka kneels down and shakes him "Hiccup, wake up."
Hiccup stirs, rolling onto his back rubbing his eyes "mum?"
"We need to talk to you. It's serious."
"Is it morning already? Didn't realise I dozed off." He says through a yawn as he sits up and stretches, his mums words taking a moment to process in his still half asleep brain, then it clicks "wait, did you find (y/n)?"
"That's what we need to talk to you about."
"She's not hurt is she? Where is she?"
"Hiccup." Valka stops him "we just need you to listen. Come with us."
She takes him to the back of the hall and gestures him to sit down. your father already sitting "what's going on?" Hiccup asks as he takes a seat.
"Gobber found (y/n) a few hours ago. She was sitting next to a collapsed hut, very confused and defensive. Took him a while to convince her to even move." Valka begins "Harald got her cleaned up and spoke to her and it seems." She pauses "seems what?" Hiccup asks.
Valka sighs "she knocked her head, and well...she has some memory fog."
"What? How much?"
"It seems she can't remember anything up to at least a year ago, she still thinks her mother is alive. And you...she just knows you as the chiefs son. She thinks Stoick is still alive and the current chief too."
"Wait..." Hiccup takes a moment to process what was being said "me and her..."
Valka shakes her head sadly "there's isn't a you and her. At least not in her mind. As far as she's aware, you two barely know each other."
"I...don't understand...so...the last 6 months, our relationship, the progress she made with her ability. It's all gone?" He asks, a thick lump forming in his throat, Valka nods "Harald will talk to her again when she wakes up but...from what he got out of her earlier, that's how it appears to be."
Hiccup starts to breathe heavily, taking it all in, Valka places her hand on top of his "she might be alright when she wakes up. It could just be temporary confusion."
"But what if it's not?" Hiccup jerks his hand away "the last thing we did was fight. She may not remember it, but I do. I said something stupid and she ran off. This is my fault." He falls forward onto the table "it's all my fault...I upset her."
Your father (Harald) pats his shoulder "don't blame yourself, son. She's always been a stubborn thing, running away when she's upset is just a thing she's always done."
"We just don't know what happened and how she ended up injured." He adds "she can't remember anything. Well, she didn't when we brought her back."
"Why didn't anyone wake me sooner?" Hiccup questions, getting slightly angry "that wouldn't have helped. You'd have been in a panic and she was wasn't having anyone fuss her. She wouldn't let anyone near her, she was terrified. The only person she would cooperate with was her father." Valka replies. Hiccup wipes his eye quickly and looks away. Valka take his hand again "just try to stay positive, we will get more answers soon."

Hiccup wanted to see you, but for reasons unknown to him he was told to wait. But he didn't want that. The two of you had made
so many memories together, grown a strong bond and right now he didn't know exactly where your mind was or what the status of your relationship had become. He was holding onto a small piece of hope that if he could talk to you, just maybe it would help clear the fog that had sent you back.
He knew that around this time you would go to the forest with Spear and that was his opportunity. Over the last few days, your father and Gobber had been watching you like hawks which was very visibly annoying you. You didn't understand why. Sure, you'd been told what had happened but without the memories you thought everyone was just mad.
