The air surrounding Elvira was getting thicker and thicker, and it was harder for her to breathe properly the deeper down in the undercity she ventured. It had been a week since she hear anything from Jayce or about his situation. Last you heard, he was to stand trial for his illegal research, and Caitlyn was the one to tell you how it went.
Apparently, they wanted to exile him from Piltover, but his mother along with Caitlyn's mother, a member of the council, managed to convince the council to let him stay. He is now banned from academy grounds.
Elvira knew that this was tough on him, and she wanted to help him so he wouldn't have to go through this alone, but he was nowhere to be found. Whenever she saw Caitlyn, she hadn't seen him. When she went to his mother, she hadn't seen him either.
So Elvira was tired of waiting for her cousin to speak with her. She decided to visit the undercity, or Zaun as they called it. And now, she was standing deeper than last time. A few days after she had been here with Ash, she had found a package on her doorstep from an anonymous person containing some clothes from the undercity. The only people who knew of her ventures to Zaun were Aya and Ash. So her bets were on Ash being the anonymous gift giver.
She was wearing the dark outfit now, but people still looked at her. She walked straighter than most down here, and she smelled better too. Everything about her was off to them, and she stuck out like a beacon. She had ventured around the streets when a young girl came walking up to her. "Hello," she said as she looked up at Elvira.
"Hello," Elvira smiled as she looked over the girl. She had blue hair and scrapes on her arms and face. "I haven't seen you here before, are you from Piltover?" she asked. "Yes I am actually, how did you know?" she asked the girl. She was young, maybe between 10 and 13 years, but she seemed much more mature than her age.
"You're clean, that's how I know," she snickered. "Oh," Elvira chuckled with her. "Why are you down here, are you an enforcer?" the girl eyes Elvira suspiciously. "Oh, no," Elvira waved her hands defensively. "I'm just here to observe. I am a scientist you see, so I wanted to see if there is something I can do for you all down here to help," Elvira smiled, but the girl just laughed.
"That's funny, you think we need help?" she laughed at Elvira. "Well maybe not you, but in general this place needs help." "Well, we can help ourselves. We don't need Piltover to interfere with our business," the girl said, voice full of venom. "Well I won't interfere then," Elvira smiled as she carefully twirled her fingers close enough to the girl so she could heal her wounds, but far enough that she wouldn't suspect anything.
But she felt the tingling, and when the girl went to touch her face, she noticed that her scrapes were gone. "What did you do?" she asked Elvira who had already turned around to walk away. Elvira turned around and winked at her while twirling her fingers slightly in front of the girl, causing a weak light to surround her fingers.
"Powder! Come on we gotta go! Vander told us to lay low!" someone yelled at the girl who turned around to run over to the source of the yelling.
Elvira kept walking around, buying questionable food from stands, supporting old ladies selling rugs and other fabrics, and she also bought jewelry from a young girl. She had already started working on her projects in the lab, sketching up different machines and gadgets that would help the people live better lives here.
She felt her heart grow heavier and heavier for each second she walked the streets on Zaun, constantly reminded that this was even worse than she could ever imagine. The people in Ionia who lived in fear of Noxus, and the refugees that constantly were on the move from war, at least knew that it was only temporary. They all prayed for a better tomorrow, where they would have peace.
