After Elvira left Viktor, she felt conflicted. She didn't like what Viktor had said to her, but she knew he spoke the truth. She originally left to clear her mind, but it was clear the second she closed the door behind her, as she felt bad.
She felt bad about leaving Viktor behind, and she missed the calmness he brought her. So she knew that if she were to stay here at continue weakening her heart, if she were to die, she would leave many people behind.
She walked down the street with her hand over her heart, as if that would take away the guilt she felt. Viktor seemed almost desperate as he pleaded with her to please leave while he figured something out.
"Ash," she said as she had made her short way to Ash's place. "Back already? Did you miss my charming face that much?" he mocked as he walked from his bedroom and out to where Elvira was standing. He instantly regretted his words as he saw the serious and somber look on Elvira's face.
"Shit, is everything ok?" he asked as he walked over to where she was standing. She was swaying slightly, so she could focus on the movements instead of the thoughts and feelings she was having.
"I'm leaving." "Leaving?" "To Ionia."
"Ash's face dropped as she said Ionia. "What? Why?" he panicked, but Elvira walked closer to him and sat down on his couch. "My magic, it's weakening my heart. It's only a matter of time before the kindred come for me," she looked at Ash, who had sat down to. "What?" he muttered, shocked by her revelations. He had noticed her health getting worse, but he had assumed it was the toxic air in Zaun that did that to her.
"Ionia has magic everywhere. Viktor thinks that it will heal me a little until he figures something out," she explained. Ash just sat there frozen staring at the wall while processing her words. "But what about the sanctuary?"
"That's why I need you. I need you to look after them while I'm gone. Explain to them that I didn't just abandon them, but that I needed to do this so that I can help them more in the future. I can't help them if I die," she looked at Ash, waiting for his answer. She assumed he would be willing to help her while she was gone, but there was still a tiny chance that he would refuse.
"How long?" he asked. "I don't know honestly. But I'm thinking maybe a year." "Fine, I'll do it. When are you leaving?" he asked, clenching his teeth to brace himself for the answer. "As soon as possible. Maybe within the week," there it was. Ash felt his heart clench, as he didn't expect her to leave that soon.
"Fuck," he said while rubbing his temples. Even though Ash always put on a tough act, Elvira had broken down his walls, and he had grown close to her while working together in Zaun during the last year. He had grown to love the little shit that she was. And now she was leaving him alone again. As he was before.
"I promise you I will come to find you as soon as I come back here," she said, pulling him out of his dark thoughts again. "You better," he said through grit teeth before pulling her close. He held on to her as if she were to evaporate any second, but she didn't mind. She wrapped her arms around Ash as well, and they both shed a few goodbye tears, though Ash would never admit to it, not even to Elvira.
"Before you go," Ash said as he pulled away from the hug. "Hmm?" Elvira said as she stood up, knowing that if she stayed any longer, she would end up not leaving at all. Ash walked with her to his door and opened the door for her. "I love you," he smiled at her while he looked over he one last time. "Love you too," she smiled before she walked outside and closed the door behind herself.
Ash knew she meant a friendly type of love. And that's not what he meant.
Elvira however went back to her workshop to find Viktor, but when she entered the place was empty. Or so she thought. "Was he your boyfriend?" someone asked from the window, and Elvira looked up to see Powder peaking her head inside. Elvira sighed as yet another person thought Viktor was her boyfriend. "No, and did you see him leave?" Elvira walked over to the window, helping Powder get inside.
