"So spill the beans, what are you doing in the undercity," Caitlyn asked as she crossed her arms across her chest, not even bothering to take a seat before questioning Elvira.

"You know, you're friend isn't gonna wake up for at least a few hours, there's no rush. At least sit down before you start aggressively interrogating me, who as a matter of fact, just saved your friend's life."

"Are you serious?" Caitlyn gasped, an offended look on her face. "You disappear to Ionia for over a year, and barely come to see me after your return, and then you almost die, the  suddenly get better, and then I hear that you have been expelled from Piltover?"

"And when I come down here, I find you hiding away in some shady laboratory, playing doctor!" Elvira had to stop Caitlyn from continuing to rant, just so she could get a word in herself. "I get why you're so upset, you have every right to be angry with me. But I also have a right to defend and explain myself, so will you please let me speak?"

Caitlyn let out a huff, before taking a seat in one of the comfortable chairs, and motioned for Elvira to speak.

"I lost my magic. I had healing magic from my mother, and I lost it when I got this," Elvira said as she placed her hand over her heart. "My heart was killing me, so I swapped it out with a mechanical one. One that wouldn't break," she explained.

"You had magic?" Caitlyn asked surprised, and Elvira nodded. "I got so depressed when I lost it, and I had to watch people around me get sick and die when I knew that I could have fixed it if I had my magic," Elvira said.

Caitlyn had to think through what Elvira had said, so she could try to understand. "But what are you doing here?" Elvira said after a few minutes of silence. "Oh, I am trying to find Jinx and Silco," Caitlyn explained, and Elvira's eyes widened a little.

"Why?" was all she could say. They were looking for Jinx? Shit!

"Jinx has been causing a lot of trouble in Piltover, and Silco is behind it all. Besides, he's been spreading his shimmer around, and it's affecting Piltover now. They need to be stopped."

"I see, I've heard talk on the streets about shimmer. I've also treated a few patients with shimmer drawbacks," Elvira said. "Who's your friend?"

"Her name is Vi, I got her out of Stillwater and she's gonna help me find Jinx," Caitlyn said, and Elvira recognized the name. Jinx had talked about her a few times, Vi was her sister. Her sister who left her when she was younger, after Vander died, and who died.

"How does she know where Jinx is?" Elvira asked, not sure if Caitlyn knew they were sisters. "I don't know, but she knows the undercity, and I need someone familiar with the place to help me look," Caitlyn explained. So she didn't know.

"I'm familiar with the place," Elvira stated. "So you'll help us?" "I'll look into some stuff about Silco and shimmer, but I won't help you with Jinx," Elvira said. "Why not?"

"Because I looked after her before I left for Ionia, and I'm not gonna betray her. I don't support what she's doing, but I won't sell her out either," Elvira said as she crossed her arms. Caitlyn opened her mouth to argue with Elvira, but closed it again, deciding that she didn't want her on her bad side.

"I can respect that decision," she said instead. "Do the two of you have any place to stay the night?" Elvira asked. Caitlyn shook her head. "You can stay here for a few nights if you want, but you better not drag any of your business here. Make sure you're not being followed, understood?" Elvira said sternly as she stood up from her seat.

Caitlyn nodded her head and stood up herself. "I will be upstairs, come get me whenever Vi wakes up," Elvira said before she disappeared up the stairs.

Elvira sat down at her desk and placed her face in her hands while groaning in frustration. "You good over there?" Ash asked from the couch across the room. "This complicates everything," Elvira complained. Ash got up from the couch, walked over to Elvira, and leaned against her desk while looking at her.

"You mean Vi and Caitlyn looking for Jinx or the fact that Caitlyn saw you?" Ash asked. "Both." Ash let out a heavy sigh while looking up at the roof, thinking. "I get that. What are you gonna do about it though?" he asked her.

"I don't think I need to do much about it, I explained to her why I was hiding down here, so I expect her to keep her mouth shut around Jayce and Viktor," she started.

"But I don't know if I should help them find Silco or not. Silco is very important to jinx, and I'm scared that she will spiral further into insanity if Silco were to die or be taken away. I can't do that to her. But on the other hand, he is doing so much shit here in Zaun, and he's ruining the city. I can't just sit by and watch that all happen when I have a chance to help," she explained.

"Hmm," Ash hummed, thinking over her words. "Maybe you need to sleep on it?" he suggested. "Maybe," she agreed.

"But before you do sleep on it, could I offer my assistance in releasing that tension of yours?" he asked while pushing off the desk, walking behind Elvira, and starting to rub her shoulders. "I'm not tense," Elvira argued but failed to hide the humming at the end, revealing that she was enjoying it.

"Whatever you say, mam," he chuckled into her ear, sending shivers down her spine. Elvira turned her chair around and pulled Ash down to her level before kissing him passionately. He grunted slightly, before pushing her chair against the desk, and grabbing onto her neck so he could hold her in place while he deepened the kiss.

"Someone's eager," Elvira teased after breaking the kiss. "Kindly, shut the fuck up," he growled before picking her up and carrying her over to the bedroom.

Days passed and Elvira had been actively asking around and looking up stuff about Silco and shimmer, but she was feeling more and more guilty the more stuff she dug up. She had already handed some of the information over to Vi and Caitlyn, but she had held the most crucial stuff to herself, not sure if she wanted to continue helping them.

Jinx had come around less often than before, and she was visibly distressed about the whole situation with Vi and Caitlyn. She had met them both the day before, and she was now passing back and forth in Elvira's lab.

She had been wounded the day before, in a fight with the firelights, so she had stapled shit a cut on her leg, that Elvira had to fix properly for her moments ago. "Next time, come straight to me, ok?" Elvira asked her, to which she received only a cold shoulder in response. She didn't press the matter any further though, as she knew of Jinx's situation at the moment, and that she was a small part of it.

After Jinx had calmed down considerably, she sat down on the couch behind Elvira's desk and fiddled with something in her hand. Elvira was working on another weapon of hers when she felt her chest tighten and tingle in a strange way. She straightened her back a little, placing her hand over her heart, to try and feel if something was wrong with it.

A wave of warmth spread through her body, and her fingers tingled the same way her heart was tingling, and when Elvira turned around, she saw Jinx twirling a hextech gemstone between her fingers. "Jinx, where did you get that?"

"Huh? Oh, I stole a few during the progress days!" she happily said before showing it off to Elvira. "Can I have a look at it?" Elvira asked, and Jinx nodded before holding it out to her. Elvira gently grabbed the crystal, and her whole body jolted, and her skin tingled with the same feeling she felt back in Ionia. Magic. A bottomless pit of magic.

She gasped in realization, and Jinx looked at her confused at her reaction. "Jinx, do you have more, or do you only have this one?" Elvira asked before handing the gemstone back to Jinx. "I have a few, why do you ask?"

"This gemstone could give me my magic back!"
