A month had passed since hextech was announced to the people of Piltover, and life had changed slightly for Elvira. She had spent more time working on her gadgets and inventions, and less time with her friends. However, she had worked a lot with Viktor, but they didn't speak much. They both just sat there for hours without saying a word to each other.

When they needed the other person to look over notes, they just laid the paper on their desk and the other either corrected the mistakes or just returned it as it was. No words. But it was a comfortable silence, because they both had a lot of things on their minds, and they needed their space.

But the day when Elvira fainted, broke that silence. They had been working in Jayce and Viktor's lab for two whole days without sleep, and they both looked like death itself. Dark and heavy bags under their eyes, skin pale and grey, hair messy, and empty coffee cups scattered around the lab. Both Aya and Jayce had been there to try and get their partners to take care of themselves but to no avail.

Elvira felt more exhausted than usual, and even though she hadn't slept much, or not slept at all, this wasn't the first time she had been like this. But this time, it felt different. It felt like someone was pushing on her chest every time she breathed, and whenever she stood up from her chair, she got really dizzy and her vision went black for a second before she regained herself.

But she didn't say anything about it, because she was so close to a breakthrough in her research. Viktor and Jayce were too busy working on the hextech to notice that anything was off anyway. And Elvira had almost cracked the code to her water purifier.

So if I'm gonna pull the toxins out of the water, I need something to separate the water from the chemicals. Normally you would build the water, but I can't do that in this case, because the chemicals would either explode, evaporate into toxic gasses, or something else would happen. I need to test the water, I can do that in my lab down in Zaun, that would be the smartest.

Elvira felt her chest tingle, and she coughed a little to try and get rid of the uncomfortable tingling feeling, but it didn't help. She coughed again, and again until she felt like she was coughing up her own lungs. She needed water. But when she stood up to go get a cup of water from the serving cart filled with snacks and drinks that Aya had come in with earlier that day, she felt her head get dizzy again, and her vision blacked out.

She walked straight into the serving cart and crashed down with it causing a loud noise. Both Viktor and Jayce turned their heads to see what the loud bang was, and both jumped off their stools and hurried over to see if Elvira was ok.

"Elvira?" Jayce tried to get a response, but she was out cold. Her skin looked pale and she looked ill. "Shit, she's unconscious," Jayce stressed and looked around the room as if there was something there that would help him. "Jayce, calm down. We'll just take her to the medics," Viktor started but was soon interrupted. "No! What if this is because of her magic again? They will find out she has magic and..." Jayce rubbed his face nervously. "And what," Viktor pressed.

"Kill her? Kick her out of Piltover? Idk," he said before letting out a sigh realizing how ridiculous he sounded. "I heard a loud sound, is everything ok in here?" someone spoke from the door, and they both looked up to see their newly assigned assistant, Sky Young.

"We need some help, if you don't mind," Jayce smiled apologetically to the young woman, before motioning to the unconscious Elvira laying sprawled on the floor, food, and drinks spilled on and around her. "Oh my, is she alright?" Sky gasped as she hurried into the room and kneeled down next to Elvira, not wasting any time before picking the food out of her hair.

"She tends to faint a lot, she's ok," Jayce explained but Sky didn't really buy it. It wasn't the whole truth. "Could you get me a wet cloth, the poor girl is covered in coffee and bread crumbs," Sky ordered, and Jayce hurried out of the lab to go find something Sky could use to wash Elvira with.
