A few hours earlier

Jayce was pacing back and forth in his lab, following Viktor's visit. Aya stood by the door, holding onto a clipboard while trying her best to pretend she didn't know about Viktor and Elvira's plan. "This is insane! How could he betray me like that!" Jayce asked as he stopped his pacing for a second, before starting again.

"Well, didn't you get him expelled from the academy?" Aya asked, and Jayce whipped his head in her direction as if she had insulted his mother. "And you think that gives him the right to steal from me?"

"Well, no obviously not. I'm only saying that's probably the reason he stole from you. Because he feels resentful," Aya explained. Jayce walked over to the window and leaned his arms on the windowsill while focusing on his breathing, trying to calm down.

"I need to get it back," he said. "Excuse me, what?" "I said I need to get it back! Who knows what kind of weaponry or inhumane machines he's making with that hexgem!" Jayce stressed. "I think going down there and attacking him would not be the best idea, Jayce," Aya tried to reason.

"And why not? Do you think he should just be able to get away with it?" "No, of course not. But think about the state of the undercity ever since Vander and Silco's death. They have been in a chaotic state for the past two years. Piltover interfering like this would cause an uproar, it's not worth it. It's only one hexgem," Aya argued.

Jayce however, did not agree. "No, it was only one hexgem this time. There have been hexgems going missing for years now, who knows how many hextech weapons they have down there at this point!"

"I'm just asking that you consider this really carefully before acting. And you should take it up with the council, or this might end badly for you, and Piltover." Jayce didn't like what Aya had said, so he dismissed her before he grabbed his hammer and geared up. Fuck the peace, he thought to himself before he left his laboratory, and marched down to the undercity, and straight towards Viktor's lab.

Present time

Elvira quickly pulled her mask over her face, before she got up from her seat, and backed off into a corner of the lab, furthest away from the entrance, and hid behind a pillar. "Viktor!" a familiar voice yelled from the broken entrance, and Jayce walked out from the settling dust.

Viktor motioned for Elvira to stay hidden, while he walked over to where Jayce was standing, looking around in horror. "Viktor, what have you done," he asked when he saw Viktor. Jayce's face was pale as a ghost, and he probably thought Viktor had killed the humans and was doing some horrible inhumane experiments on them.

"Viktor, I'm sorry I was such a jerk to you, and I'm sorry I got you kicked out from the academy. But this is wrong! I didn't know you would snap like this, and even you must know that this is wrong!" Jayce pleaded while Viktor stood in front of him, not responding.

A door next to where Elvira was standing opened up and a bunch of robots walked out. They marched closer to Viktor, before stopping behind him, waiting for an order.

"Viktor, listen to me! You are losing your mind! Think about the future between Piltover and Zaun, you're starting a war!" Jayce argued, but Viktor wasn't interested. "Kill him," he simply ordered, and the robots charged at Jayce.

Elvira felt her body freeze, and before she knew it, she charged as well, but not for Jayce. "Are you insane!?" she yelled at Viktor, who refused to meet her gaze. He just walked further into his lab, and into the door where the robots had come from.

"Viktor, order them to back down, right now!" she said, grabbing onto his hand, trying to stop him. "Elvira, he can't destroy the machine, and you know it. Think about how many lives will be lost if he manages to break it," Viktor only said, and Elvira heard the sadness in his voice. "Viktor, he's my cousin! He's family to me, you can't do this!" Elvira cried, but her mask hid the broken look on her face.

"I'm sorry," Viktor said before he walked into the room, and disappeared into the darkness. "Fuck," Elvira whispered, trying to decide what to do. Save Jayce, or save the hundreds of lives that were hooked to the machine.

Elvira made her decision, as she saw Jayce take down robot after robot with his hammer. She made her way over to him, and he looked over at her, panicked before he started sprinting for the machine, gripping his hammer as tightly as he could.

"No," Elvira gasped as she realized what he was planning. "NO!" she yelled as she summoned her magic to boost her as she sprinted in his direction, to protect the machine at all cost. But she was seconds too late, as Jayce brought his hammer down on the machine, crushing the hexgem inside.

Elvira heard a loud ringing noise in her ears, and the world slowed down around her. Her vision filled with a bright light as she felt her body being thrown across the room, and crash into a wall. When the light from the explosion faded away, her vision was blurry and she felt a warm odd sensation on the right side of her body.

"Elvira!" she heard a muffled voice call out, but she still couldn't see who approached her. The ringing in her ear was still deafening, and she struggled to keep her eyes open. "Don't close your eyes, please!" the voice begged, but she was so tired. So, so tired. She was just gonna take a short nap.
