A/N: Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been on vacation for a few days, so I haven't been able to write anything! But I'm back now, and I have so much inspiration!
A few days passed since Elvira left Piltover, and she had spent her days sitting in her tiny house with Ash. She had not seen either Ekko or Jinx, and she didn't know if she was ready to face them yet either. She knew she would disappoint Ekko with the lack of her magic, and she would feel guilty about leaving Jinx for so long.
"What am I gonna do Ash, I can't stay here," Elvira said as she leaned her head on his shoulder. They were sitting on her couch, cuddled up under a blanket. Ash was so happy to have Elvira back and healthy, that he didn't want to leave her side for even a second. "Why not?"
"Because people know of this place, so if they come looking for me, they'll come right here," she straightened up so she could look at him while she spoke to him. "I'm surprised no one has come here already, to be honest."
"You can stay at my place until you find your own place. You could create weapons and sell them to make a name for yourself, you'd be rich in a month, I'm sure," Ash suggested, and Elvira frowned. "I came down here to help the people of Zaun, Ash. Not to cause more damage than there already is."
"Then I can't help you. You can..." Ash started, but Elvira shushed him when she heard familiar voices outside her house. "Shit," she whispered before placing her hand over Ash's mouth and leading them into her bedroom. She quietly opened a hidden door behind a tapestry on the wall and began sneaking through.
"They know there's someone here, they saw the light being on. Lay on the bed, and pretend like you haven't seen me. Ok?" she whispered, and Ash quickly nodded before she snuck out, closing the door behind her, causing the tapestry to fall back over where the door was, hiding it completely.
Ash lied down on the bed as instructed, hands behind his head, looking at the ceiling. "I know she's here, there's nowhere else..." a voice spoke before the door to the bedroom was pushed open, revealing Viktor and Jayce standing there, looking surprised at seeing Ash.
"You," Viktor breathed out, disappointed that Ash was there and not Elvira. "Me," Ash grinned back, before sitting up on the bed, legs crossed. "Who are you? Where's Elvira?" Jayce asked as he walked into the bedroom, a threatening look on his face.
"Woah big guy, Elvira's not here. I haven't seen her since she left for Ionia." Ash shrugged his shoulders. "She said I was free to use her space until she came back, so here I am. Why are you looking for her here? Did she come back?"
"She did. And frankly, I don't believe you," Viktor looked suspiciously at Ash. "Well that's not my problem whether you believe me or not," Ash shrugged again. "Tell us where Elvira is!" Jayce tried to sound intimidating, but the panic in his voice made him sound more desperate and scared.
Ash however, were not gonna tolerate Jayce's stupid behavior, and he stood up from the bed and marched towards Jayce, stopping right in front of his face.
"I don't know who the fuck you think you are, but you do NOT come here and threaten me. I am familiar with Viktor, and I know Elvira cares about both of you, but don't you fucking dare talk to me like that."
"We'll leave," Viktor said defeated before he turned to walk away. Jayce stared down Ash for a few seconds before he let out a heavy sigh and followed Viktor.
While all that was happening, Elvira was sitting outside the door listening in, tears falling down her cheeks as she cried silently. When Viktor and Jayce got outside, Elvira sneaked closer so she could listen to their conversation.
"Don't worry Viktor, I know she's down here somewhere. We'll look some more, we just need the situation to calm down so we can think rationally," Jayce said as they walked further away. "You'll get to tell her how you feel, I promise," Jayce then said, and Elvira froze. "Unlikely," Viktor mumbled, before they walked away, leaving Elvira alone with her thoughts. How he feels?
"You can come back in now, they've left," Ash spoke from where the door was as he held it open for her. Elvira slowly climbed back inside, before she climbed under the covers of her bed, crying. "Hey, what's up?" Ash asked as he sat on the bed next to her, and lifted the covers carefully so he could look at her.
"I think I've made a big mistake Ash," she admitted before sitting up on the bed. "I left them both with nothing but a note, and now I've banned from ever stepping foot in Piltover again."
Ash grabbed her shoulders and pulled her closer. "You have me, it's gonna be fine. I'm sorry your life's a mess right now, but I'll do anything I can to help you get settled here in Zaun. Ok? Now let's start moving your things back to my place, and we'll figure out where we'll go from there," he said while rubbing her back softly, calming her down. "Thank you."
After Elvira felt better, Ash helped her pack all her belongings, and they made their way back to his place. The two months after that, Elvira spent training her body, to compensate for her lack of magic. She didn't want to feel helpless.
She had also spent a lot of time with Jinx, and they had worked together on inventions. Elvira had finally finished her hidden gun, with the help of Jinx, it was now fully decorated as well. Not so hidden anymore.
Elvira was now sitting at her desk in her little lab, working on her water purifier. "Let's see how filthy you are," she spoke to herself as she carefully unscrewed the part holding the polluted water. "Carefully," she mumbled to herself, to help keep her hands steady as she pulled it out.
"Guess what I found!" Jinx yelled excitedly as she jumped in through the window, causing Elvira to flinch, and drop the polluted water onto her desk, resulting in it splashing onto her arm, quickly eating away the fabric and burning the skin underneath. "FUCK!" Elvira cursed as she stood from her seat, holding her arm out to prevent the acidic water to spread to anywhere else on her body.
"That looks painful," Jinx pointed out, while Elvira was hissing through her teeth, as she watched the acid eat at the skin on her lower arm. "Shut up!" Elvira yelled as she made her way over to the cabinet holding her chemicals, quickly grabbing the neutralizer and pouring it over her arm.
But the damage was already done, and the acid had eaten all the skin and some of the muscle of the arm, leaving it completely destroyed. Elvira breathed heavily from the pain, as she sat down on the sofa, trying not to pass out from the loss of blood and from the pain, which was now kicking in after the adrenaline was wearing off.
"Get Ash," Elvira said through gritted teeth, and Jinx quickly jumped back out of the window, realizing the severity of the situation. "Fucking hell, Now of all times?" Elvira cursed to herself, as she had other plans for the moment, that did not involve burning her arm, off.
"What's up, jinx said it was urgent, Holy shit!" Ash hurried over to Elvira and looked over her arm. "This is bad," he said, earning himself a pissed-off look from Elvira. "Oh is it? I didn't know!" she snapped at him, but he only brushed it off. He was used to her attitude, which got really bad whenever she was stressed or scared.
Ash chuckled at her before he picked her up bridal style, and carried her off down to the basement. He kissed the top of her head reassuringly, and she only grunted in response. For the past months, they had been growing a lot closer, and even though Ash knew she only used him for fun and that she didn't love him, he was happy for the moments he got to have with her.
He placed her down on one of the beds there and went to work on her arm. Elvira had established a medic ward in the basement of her lab, where she treated the wounded people of Zaun. The innocent people of the streets, she treated for free, and the chembarons and people of power, she charged for her services. But her name has spread so fast in the streets, that they didn't mind it at all.
The wings of the undercity they called her. The sparrow. Ash grabbed the cloth and creams and started to wipe away the remaining acid and blood on her arm. Elvira screamed in pain, as he dragged the wet and cold cloth down her arm. Ash's heart twisted at the sound of her screams, but he continued his work.
He applied a healing cream before wrapping her arm up in bandages at last. Elvira had passed out from the pain after a few minutes of washing, so Ash grabbed a clean cloth before running it under the cold clean water and drying the sweat from her face.
"I'm sorry," he whispered before kissing her forehead.
