Elvira summoned her magic and shot it at anyone who charged her way, sending them flying backward. She knew she was physically weak, but she still had her magic. She helped her allies by rooting the enemy to the ground or even paralyzing those who seemed to be winning.
"A helping hand please?" a young girl asked as she ran past Elvira, with five enemies following her. The girl seemed to be charging up energy, so Elvira sent a giant bolt of magical energy at her, which instantly overcharged her.
"Thanks!" she laughed before she let out a boom, shooting at her enemies with incredible speed, and power. She took down the five who were following her with ease and moved on to take down the rest in her area.
Elvira's attention was taken away from the girl when she heard grunting and ruffling behind her, and she turned around to see Caitlyn trying to get up from the smashed wooden crates she was lying in.
"Here," Elvira said as she held out a hand to her. "Yeah right, I'm not stupid," Caitlyn slapped her hand away, before continuing to get up on her own. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I don't have anything against you Cait, I just need to fight for my people. You should understand where I'm coming from, you're doing the same thing," Elvira said as she used her magic to help Caitlyn to her feet, much to her protest.
"Are you implying that we are the same?" Caitlyn asked offended, and Elvira laughed a little. "Oh please, no. You've not been stabbed in the back by your cousin, have you? Or almost killed a couple of times? And it also seems like you have all your body parts still attached to you, so I would not say we're the same," Elvira joked, to which Caitlyn had to muffle a chuckle.
"I'm sorry you got hurt, but I'm not sorry about this fight. It's necessary," Elvira said while Caitlyn was sitting down against a wall, hidden from the battle. "It's not necessary," Caitlyn argued. "You're all criminals," she added.
"Criminals? Crime is just a symptom of a dysfunctional society, Caitlyn. We're trying to fix that. But you don't have to understand now, because I know you will understand eventually," Elvira smiled at Caitlyn. "It was good seeing you again," she said before she left Caitlyn to join the fight again.
Elvira was looking out onto the fight, which was slowly coming to an end. There were both Zaunites and Piltovans lying either dead or hurt on the ground, while people were fighting around them. Elvira tried using her magic to carry the wounded to the side, but her injuries were taking a toll on her.
And without any warning, her vision went black, and she could feel herself fall.
Elvira found herself standing in a field, that felt oddly familiar to her. "Dyeda," a soft voice spoke. Elvira looked up from the grassy ground she was standing on and felt her eyes tear up. "Emai," she said, voice barely above a whisper as she smiled at her mother.
"You've been through so much dyeda, and you've been so strong, I am very proud of you," her mother said as she held onto Elvira's upper arms, steadying her. Elvira felt her stomach drop at her mother's words.
"Am I... am I dead?" she asked, not sure if she wanted to know the answer. The last thing she remembered was... what was she doing? She knew she had been fighting, but she couldn't remember what she had done before she ended up here.
"No my love, you are simply in the in-between right now. Do you not recognize this place? You've been here before," her mother said as she motioned to their surroundings. Elvira took in her surroundings. "The spirit-walk," she gasped in realization. "Yes," her mother confirmed.
"But if I'm not dead, how did I get here?" she asked. "You were hurt. Badly hurt. "Your consciousness was transported here while your body heals," her mother said as she placed her hand on Elvira's lower back, encouraging her to walk.
The walked through the field in silence, feeling the soft grass tickle her bare feet. "I miss you," Elvira broke the silence. "I know you do my love, and I miss you and your father just as much."
Elvira felt her fingers tingle and lifted her hands to see her hands slowly dissolve into a faint mist. "It's time to go," her mother softly spoke, scared Elvira would break if her voice was any louder.
"But what if I don't wanna go?" Elvira asked, not wanting to leave her mother again. "You must, you're not ready for the spirit realm yet," her mother argued. "But I love you, I need you, I can't do this anymore, I can't do life anymore, I don't know what to do!" Elvira started breathing faster, panic taking over her.
"And I love you dyeda, but there is also someone waiting for you back home, who also loves you very much, and who needs you. I think he could guide and love you, as much as I think you could guide and love him," her mother smiled.
Elvira felt the tingling spread, and she knew her time here was running short. "I will see you soon enough my love. Now go live your life to the fullest, so you have many stories to tell me when you join me," her mother smiled as Elvira faded away.
She woke up to someone speaking next to her, in hushed voices. Elvira gasped for air, feeling her lungs burn from the lack of oxygen. This got the attention of the others in the room, specifically, Viktor, who dropped the device he was holding, and rushed over to pull Elvira into a hug, as he let his tears flow freely down his face.
"Fuck," Ash whispered from behind Viktor, as he took in Elvira's state. "Don't you ever do that again, I thought I'd lost you," Viktor said through his tears, as he held the back of Elvira's head close to his own.
