The Wild Orchid

Chapter 13

                 Roughly a week had past since the ceremony had taken place. Training continued as scheduled. There had still been no word on the whereabouts or condition of Michelle. Kat was becoming more and more concerned about Michelle. Phalen's squad was coming together slowly. Once training was done for the day Gabby and Phalen decided to take a walk around the headquarters grounds.

                 While walking the grounds they came across a beautiful glistening waterfall. The waterfall was made of blues, greens and other pastel colors. At the bottom was a big beautiful lagoon to swim in. The entrance to the lagoon had a small but beautiful white sand beach. The sun was shining in making all the colors more apparent. The way the waterfall and lagoon looked it was like it was from a painting. They decided to sit at the waterfall and just talk for a while. Phalen and Gabby spent a few hours there then decided to head back to headquarters. When they returned they went to see Kathrine. As they approached Kathrine's office they heard talking inside.

                  Phalen knocked on the door and from inside Kat replied, "Come in." Gabby and Phalen entered to find, Kat, Kelcey, Phoenix, and Sassy present. Kat then looked up and made eye contact with Phalen. After a moment Kat said, "Phalen I have offered Sassy one of our many spare rooms so she doesn't have to live at the Inn anymore. This way she can live here with us. What do you think?" After a moment of silence Phalen replied, "That's awesome. I'm so happy she doesn't have live at The Orchid Inn anymore. That way she is around her family. Welcome home. Sassy." Sassy just answered with only a smile.

                  With the chat completed Gabby and Phalen returned to their room to decide what they wanted to do for the rest of the day. After about an hour they decided to go to the Inn with Sassy. When they entered it was quite for the time being. An hour had passed and business picked up. After some time of business picking up a young woman came in. Once she took her seat Sassy went over and took her order. She was sitting alone when a man came in and approached her. That's when an argument ensued. Phalen sat at the bar listening as the argument escalated. She looked at Sassy. Sassy then shook her head while mouthing, Phalen don't do it. Calm down.

                   Then all of a sudden an extremely loud smack rang throughout the Inn. Within a blink of an eye Phalen had the man by his throat lifted off the floor. Phalen was now seething with anger causing her eyes to turn blue and gold. That was something new and different with Phalen's eyes. As she tightened her grip she growled threateningly, "I should snap your fucking neck right here right now. Don't you dare hit her again. If you do I will kill your ass without a second thought." When Sassy and Gabby heard this they rushed to Phalen's side and replied together, "Put this scumbag down Phalen. Now! What the hell is with your eyes? They're completely different." Phalen finally dropped him to the floor. After he hit the floor he was coughing. Phalen then leaned down an inch away from his face and growled, "Get the hell out of here now. If I ever catch you in here again or hitting her again I will kill you. This is not a threat it's a fucking promise. Get out now before I change my mind."

                  After the guy ran out Phalen checked on the woman. She told Sassy to put ice in a bag for her. Once Phalen was happy with how the woman was being taken care of she calmed down. When Phalen was finally calm her eyes returned to her normal color. She then returned to her seat. There was a moment of silence then Gabby said, "Phalen I've never seen your eyes look like that before or even do that before. The blue yes. But the blue and gold, was something different and new for you. We need to go back to headquarters so I can run some tests on you to figure out what the hell that was." With that they returned home to headquarters.

                  When they arrived back home Gabby barged into Kat's office and said, "Kat, Phoenix, I need the two of you to come to the med bay with me so I can run some more tests on Phalen. Phalen is already there waiting for us. I'll explain in more detail once we are in the med bay." After Gabby said this horror appeared on their faces because they were thinking of the worse form of scenarios. With that the three of them rushed to the med bay. Once inside they closed and locked the door behind them. After this was done Gabby went into a very detailed explanation on what happened at the Inn. When Gabby was finished she began to start running tests. She began with bloodwork and scans of Phalen. As she was analyzing the data she collected from the scans and blood work she heard the restraints being fastened on Phalen. When she turned around she exclaimed, "What the hell are you doing?" Phalen explained to Gabby that she requested them to do it. She also explained it was so Phoenix could provoke her rage to cause her eyes to change so they could see what she had told them.
