The Wild Orchid

Chapter 32

                Finally after a few months, (4 months to be exact), of planning with the Mafia families it was the day of the engagement party. It had been decided to have it at the club. That way everyone from both sides of the family would fit. Autumn had made the choice to have the club only open for the party later on in the evening. She had also decided to have her usual DJ there. The Mafia families made the choice to hire people to prepare the food at the restaurant. Then they would deliver it to the club later on that night. They only did that after receiving permission from Phoenix weeks prior. Phalen and Gabby had received about a dozen packages from the families so everyone could dress Mafia style for the party.

               During the day everyone just sat and relaxed. Phalen and Gabby were sitting on the all season porch cuddling and looking out into the backyard. After a few minutes Phalen asks, "How you feeling babe?" Gabby smiles while replying, "Honestly, I'm nervous. How you feeling?" "I'm scared and nervous." Phalen stated. Just then, Sassy had come into the house quietly and had heard what they both had said. Sassy then stated, "Don't be you two." Both jumped from being startled.

                That's when Phalen and Gabby turned around and leaned on the back of the couch starring at Sassy. While starring at her mother Phalen replies, "Oh, hey mom. If I recall correctly, not to long ago you were saying the same damn thing on your wedding day." Sassy laughed as she joined them on the all season porch. Once she was sitting across from them they turned around to face her. Sassy then said, "You're right I was. So now I'm going to tell you both the same thing a wise person beyond their years told me that day. There's no need to be scared or nervous. You two are destined to be together forever. You both got this." When Sassy finished speaking she got up, hugged and kissed the both of them on their cheeks then took her leave.

                After Sassy took her leave Aspen was leaning against an archway with her arms folded accross her chest that faced the porch. She had heard what they said and the conversation between them and Sassy. That's when she stated, "You both know she's right don't you?" Again they jumped startled. Gabby then replies, "What's with you assholes sneaking up on us?" Aspen began laughing as the rest of the household joined them on the porch. Autumn then states, "Why don't the two of you smoke some weed to settle both your nerves." After Autumn made the suggestion they all sat together. Once they were all seated they packed their bowls and began to smoke.

                 They all smoked together for about an hour. Roughly two hours after that it was time for everyone to get ready for the party. The entire household decided to take showers before getting Mafia style dressed for the party. When Phalen and Gabby got out of their shower they got dressed. Once they were fully dressed they put on their fedoras and tilted one to the left and one to the right. After that they attempted to kiss while wearing them. The first few times the rims to their fedoras bumped. It took them a few tries but eventually they succeeded in getting the proper angle. They both laughed. Gabby then states, "I guess we'll have to practice more since we seem to have a little bit of difficulty with the angle." Phalen smiles mischievously while replying, "I love that idea but, it may lead to more then just kissing." Gabby states, "Mmmmm. I look forward to that." They then kissed again.

                After that Phalen and Gabby decided to wait on the all season porch for the rest of the household while watching the sun set. With the sunset of oranges, reds, and yellows in the background, Phalen pulled Gabby nice and tightly against her. After Phalen did that she kissed Gabby passionately and deeply. The rest of the household came around the corner and stood smiling while starring at them. Aspen then took a picture of them without their knowledge. Finally Aspen cleared her throat loudly. That's when the kiss broke.

                When they heard that they turned to look at the household and saw them smiling at them. Gabby then states, "How long have you guys been standing there starring at us?" Aspen's smile broadened as she replied, "Long enough to watch the priceless kodak moment unfolding before our eyes. You guys ready to go?" They smiled at their household while they shook their heads yes. Before they left the house Aspen had secretly told the household she wanted to get the secret photo printed out for Phalen and Gabby.
