Dowoon sat nervously in the conference room waiting for the manager to come in.

He was called into a meeting, just him, none of the others.

He fiddled with his fingers nervously as the door opened and two men walked in.

"dowoon-ah this is our new music producer and vocal coach Chae Jongin."

Dowoon bowed to the man politely.

"the reason I called you in today is to discuss the next comeback. We want to do something a little different for this album.

Dowoon nodded anxiously.

"we were thinking of adding more of your lines to a few tracks."

Dowoon's eyes went wide in shock.

"w.. what? but, i...I don't sing."

"that's what jongin is for. We think that the MYday's will really appreciate hearing your voice, we don't want the fans forgetting about you do we?"

"ah, no...no of course not..." he said softly.

"so you will work with Jongin over the course of the next two weeks in order to record the tracks in time."

Dowoon had a nervous flutter in his stomach, but he nodded regardless.

"I'll leave you two to get started." The manager left them in the room.

"so dowoon-ah, tell me, have you ever sung before?"

"ah, well not professionally no, I've always just been an instrumental musician."

"I see, well I'd like to do a diagnostics test, to see where your voice is at."

He nodded.

The man led him into the recording studio and told him to sing the solfege scale.

Dowoon sang the scale, his voice very rusty and off-pitch.

He cringed at himself and apologized.

"ah it's alright, it's your first time just, take a breath and try again."

Dowoon nodded and took in a breath before attempting the scale again, it sounded a bit better but still very amateur.

"aish, hyung this is a bad idea..." he said feeling discouraged.

"hey, dowoon-ah it will be fine, we just need to work a little bit. Let's start with learning pitch."

Throughout his first three lessons, dowoon listened to jongin and had begun to improve. He felt proud of himself as he could hear the improvement in the notes he sang, it was still far from perfect of course but he was happy with his results.

It was the beginning of their second week working together and dowoon had hit a standstill with his skills, he hadn't seemed to improve much more for several days and it was becoming frustrating.

The coach was in a bad mood as he heard dowoon's flat, amateur notes, cringing at the recording.

"yah stop!" he called into the mic interrupting dowoon's singing.

"is...is something wrong hyung?"

"yah of course! Do you hear yourself?!" he yelled through the mic.

Dowoon hung his head.

"I'm sorry hyung."

"aish, how could all that work go to waste like this dowoon. I thought you were improving!"
