Trigger Warning: Death, loss of pet

The day was ordinary. Just an average Wednesday afternoon.

The members of BOYNEXTDOOR were working hard on pre-comeback schedules, going from dance practice to photoshoots to variety shows. Their comeback date was almost here, and the boys were so excited to show off a new concept for this album.

After an exhausting day of work, the boys were finally finished and could go back to their dorms to relax.

They entered the dorms feeling tired but generally pleased as well. Preparations for the comeback were going smoothly, and all of the boys had been doing really well with the choreography and filming.

They walked into the dorm removing their shoes and jackets at the door. Sungho offered to cook them some dinner while everyone showered and changed.

Leehan had one objective once he was home; see his babies who patiently waited for him all day.

He made his way to his room seeing the familiar blue glow of the aquarium from the hall. He smiled wide as he rushed to the tank seeing his fish swimming around happily. He spotted a few of his Otos hanging out by the glass greeting him with some bubbles as he sat in front of the tank.

"Hello babies! It's been a long day huh? Did you miss me?" he asked softly as he reached for the fish food.

"I'll bet you're ready for dinner huh?" he chuckled as he poured the measured amount into the tank, smiling proudly as the fish swam to the flakes.

A few angelfish swam by stealing some of the food from the Corydoras.

"Oh, that's not very nice." he scolded as he laid his head on his arms and watched the animals swim.

Any remaining exhaustion or stress melted away once he saw his babies. Just watching them move around the tank made his heart melt and filled him with pure peace.

He smiled watching the different species swim past, the corydoras and otos hanging out by the front of the tank as they always did.

As leehan observed the small ecosystem he had built, something caught his eye in the bottom corner of the tank.

He stood up and moved closer to investigate.

Once he realized what he was seeing, his heart clenched in his chest, that previous warmth turned ice cold.

"N...no..." he whispered weakly.

In the bottom corner lay one of his beloved Rummy-nosed tetras, his tiny silver body was nestled in the rocks, his orange colored head seemed dull.

Leehan stared at it for a while, hoping maybe it was just taking a nap, just resting after swimming for a long time.

But he could tell from the way its fins were swaying and its body lay stiff that the poor animal was gone.

An intense feeling of dread washed over leehan, seeing one of his precious babies lifeless in the corner.

Leehan grabbed a fish net from a drawer and delicately scooped the fish out of the rocks. He pulled it gently out of the water and placed it in his palm.

He looked down at the animal feeling an intense sadness.

His eyes filled with tears, his legs buckling underneath him as he slowly sank to the floor. He cradled the fish softly in his hands, his thumb gently stroking its silver scales.
