Chapter 17 - Back & Forth

KAYLEE'S POV

"So what happens now?" I asked the blonde woman that's watching me like a hawk.

"Dom is already on the ground, as soon as the EMP is active and all of their defenses are down, it's your job to take control of the submarine." she said.

"Everyone you have here, including yourself, can do this in their sleep? Why did you want me here?" I asked.

"Numbers, the more I have, the less they have. You're talented Kaylee, your talents are being wasted. Now focus." she replied, accommodating her mic.

"Yes ma'am." I muttered, dropping into my assigned seat.

There's no lying that this is the computer setup of my dreams. I'm a little iffy to be helping her do anything but this is how the game needs to be played ... for now.

"Alright Dom, you're one step closer to that family reunion." Cipher smugly stated, making me grit my teeth.

"400 meters to base." I said.

"Prep the EMP, let's take these defenses down." she happily ordered.

I'm waiting for Cipher's order just as much as Dom is. As much as I hate what I'm doing right now, there are some cool ass toys to play with here. She has state-of-the-art and top-of-the-line systems here that she most definitely stole from someone or paid for with stolen money, and it's all on a plane! It's not worth betraying my family for, but it is making sure that Dom's son and Elena make it off of here alive and safe.

As soon as the EMP was at 100% and ready, the game was on. I'm primed to actually manually override a fucking submarine! This is the most fun I've had in a while and no, it's not lost on me that it's coming from being on the wrong side. It's still fun.

"Gates are open, let's get this party started." Cipher said.

I started mumbling the lyrics to Let's Get It Started by Black Eyed Peas and it made the team laugh. We could hear the heavy gunfire and it broke part of my heart to not be a part of it, I love a good gunfight. As much as I'd like to put a bullet in Dom myself, I'll have to refrain from that type of violence if his information is correct.

"EMP's recharging." I informed her, wondering if Dom can hear me.

"How long?" she asked.

"About 60 seconds."

"Alright Dom you heard your girl, you've one pulse left in that EMP. That sub is heavily insulated so you're gonna need to be right underneath it for this thing to work." Cipher told him, making me smile, her pettiness is real and I kinda like it.

We all waited patiently, well, not so much on my part, but we waited for the EMP to begin the next step to begin. He's taking heavy fire waiting for it to be fully charged and I'm getting perverse pleasure from it. Suddenly, we watched as the helicopter firing at him fell out of the sky and Cipher is all for it. Okay, I kinda am too.

"Yes! Two birds with one stone." she said.

"We've got control of the sub." I told her.

"Dom, we are good ... head over to the rendezvous. Okay Kaylee, let's take this baby for a spin."

"Hell yeah."

With the utmost glee, I remotely booted up a fucking submarine. Tej would lose his freaking mind over this.

"Time to play, boys." I said as the systems started to load one by one.

HOBBS POV

"We're in trouble, damn it!" Tej said.
