"When you told your uncle to stay, you said it was my house. It's yours too love, what's mine is yours and I bought this one in particular with you in mind." he smiled, cupping my cheek.
"Dex ... what ..."
"I bought this house just before ... before I lost you again. I knew that I wanted to marry you and I wanted a place for us to call home, somewhere stable to offer you."
"I love you." I whispered.
"I love you, too, so much."
"You bought us a home?" I asked incredulously.
"I bought you a house, your name is on the deed. I've got houses and apartments all over the world but none of them have the meaning this place does. This will be our beginning, our due over. Where we start our lives together." he said.
"I love it." I smiled, flipping over to straddle his waist.
"Why would you do that? Your uncle is here tonight." he groaned, gripping my waist tightly.
"Just wanted to see if I could still get away with it." I said.
"You could get away with murder and I wouldn't bat an eye at it." he said as I laid back down.
"Good to know."
"I want you to meet my mother." he suddenly said.
"You ... what?"
"I would like for the two of you to meet."
"I ... I'd like that. What about your brother?"
"He's been warned." he growled.
"Deckard, I don't want to cause any ..."
"You won't cause anything. It was brought to my attention that he was interested in you and I have taken care of that."
"I was never interested in him." I said.
"A fact that I highly appreciate, doll." he sighed.
"When is this going to happen?"
"We can do dinner tomorrow, after we leave Toretto's."
"That's doable. Tomorrow it is. Here?"
"Yes, I'll cook.'
"That sounds like a plan." I said, yawning.
"Rest, love, we'll talk more in the morning." he smiled, kissing me softly.
"I can ... get used to this."
"You do just that." was the last thing I heard.
Next morning after a quick shower I threw on a simple outfit before heading downstairs to make breakfast. Samantha was watching tv in the living room while Hobbs sat outside by the pool. Putting a pot of coffee on for Dex, since Sam said she wasn't hungry yet, I made my way out to my uncle, handing him the first mug of coffee.
"How long have you been out here?" I asked.
"About an hour. You know, he asked for my blessing." he said.
"What?"
"The day we came to New York in the fish truck."
"Let's not mention that damn truck again. Still makes me want to vomit."
"Okay, well, when we were talking, he asked for my blessing to ask you to marry him." he said, a soft smile on his face.
"He ... that was so sweet. Thank you."
"He said he knew it was important to you and he wanted to do this the right way. I can see it, not the wedding cause you're not a girly girl, but I can see the life you make together. I can see the two of you living here or somewhere around the world just being happy. He makes you happy, kid."
