Once we got back to the safe house and I ripped Roman a new one, everyone went their separate ways. I sat on the little sofa and wracked my head looking for reasons. Dom is all about family, he made our family, so why would he betray it? There has to be a reason, a big, important, damn good one at that for him to have done something like this.
I won't consider any other option as a possibility, I can't. Letty came and sat down next to me in complete silence. Pain and confusion are written all over her face.
"He wouldn't do something like this." she said after a few minutes of silence, looking at the floor.
"I know that . . . we know that but the issue lies in him this time. He was hiding his intentions from us which means he's been planning this. We need to figure out how long he's been planning. And we need to figure out what could have possibly made him do this?" I said.
"Yes! There has to be a reason because he would never betray his family on a whim like this. I tried calling him . . . I've been trying for the past hour but he won't answer me."
"We'll figure this out, I promise. You need to sleep, go and relax Letty. Stop thinking about all of this for a few hours because there's nothing we can do right now."
"We all need to, you go relax too." she pointedly said.
"I will . . . I will, I promise." I insisted with a chuckle after she just stared at me.
"What are you waiting for, sis?"
"I've got some phone calls to make."
"To who?"
"That's for me to know for now. I don't wanna jinx it or get anyone's hopes up."
"Okay shady lady, but you need to sleep when you're done." she insisted before going up the stairs to the bedroom area.
I just stared into space for a while thinking, my friendship with Letty had evolved back into what it had been before everything happened. We were like sisters again, something I never thought would happen again and I felt her pain. This . . . situation is reminiscent of our last job when we were hunting Shaw, except this time Dom is the bad guy. With that in mind, I grabbed my phone and dialed a number that I never thought I would use.
"Kaylee Cortez, not that it isn't nice to hear from you but how did you get this number?"
"Mr. Nobody, he needs your help." I bluntly stated.
"It really is nice to hear from . . ."
"I know that you know what happened, you always do. My uncle needs your help Nobody, I need you to help him." I pleaded.
"Let me see what is doable." he answered.
"You were already working on something, weren't you?" I asked.
"I do my best to always remain ahead of the game, it's what I do best." he smugly stated.
"He's all Sam and I have left, please help him."
"What about the rest of your team?"
"Everyone has their own life now, they've all moved on and while we'll always be a family, Hobbs is blood. We had a rocky start but we have a really good relationship now. I promised Sam we'd go back together, don't make me break that promise."
"He's a stubborn man . . ."
" . . . and we know that he'll refuse your help at first but he'll accept it in the end. He has to. Can you tell me where he's at?"
"Nope."
"No you can't or no you won't?"
"Both."
