Gerard's POV
Looking around, opening my eyes up to the city as I walked. I was super excited to be here, holding my bags; one on my back, two in my hands. I put one of my bags on the floor of the building I had entered that wasn't able to be seen by humans. This was a protected space, making sure that we weren't found out; The Angel Dorms. It consisted of apartment houses, all you would need in one house, and there are assigned roommates, so I could meet another angel.
I grabbed my key, looked at the number, and smiled. "Thank you, have a good day," I shouted excitedly as I exited the building. I looked for my assigned house, smiling once I found it, and opened the door. It was clean, tidy, and it smelled like pine. It was furnished with a grey couch, a coffee table, and... A TV, from what the guide says. I figured I'd find out how to work it later, looking around and surveying the area. The living room was in the same area of the kitchen, but both were a moderate to big size and fairly separate. There were two doors beside the TV, opening the left and seeing a fairly large bathroom. The space was most likely to accommodate our wings, but honestly, it just looked huge. I shut the door, turning out the lights and looking to the other room, seeing a washer and dryer, noting that it was known as a laundry room.
"Oh whoa," I whispered, looking to the stairs and realizing that there was more to the house. Even though it looked large outside, I didn't come across the possibility of a second floor. I grabbed my bags, went up the stairs, and looked at the doors. All of them were open, and I could see inside of them. As I walked to the end of the hall, I noted that there were two bedrooms, another bathroom, and a hall closet. All of it seemed so lonely, but I knew that soon my roommate would come and it hopefully wouldn't be this quiet.
I settled into the room nearest to the stairs, looking around and sitting on the bed. I wanted to unpack, but I was so motivated to draw and I was super excited to meet my roommate, whoever they were. I grabbed my sketchbook from my bag, grabbed a pencil, and went down the stairs without closing my door. I sat on the couch, finding it comfortable, sinking into the corner and propping up my sketchbook against my legs.
After drawing for so long, I felt this weird gurgling in the pit of my stomach... More of growling. I remembered that this meant hunger, getting up to go to the kitchen, and seeing the choices of worldly foods were in the cabinet. I explored a little, not knowing what to make and debating on just eating a quick snack. It was when my stomach let out another growl, letting me know the feeling of how empty I was and having to grab my stomach quickly to silence the weird sound. I decided to grab something quick first, eating these weird chips that were called Lays. They tasted pretty good, a little too salty in my opinion, but it settled the rumbling in my stomach as I looked for something more permanent.
I was using my cooking skills to whip up a dish, supposedly named Au Gratin. It was a cheesy potato dish that appeared to be delicious, though I'd have to wait and find out for myself in... 20 minutes. I had to set a timer, making myself comfortable on the couch again and doodling mindlessly. It's weird that I was supposedly human, but I still had wings, feeling them getting cramped in my leather jacket and having to take it off to appease them. I untucked them from the back of my shirt, making a note to tailor my clothes to fit my wings so they wouldn't be so cramped all the time.
After waiting an agonizing 20 minutes, I grabbed the cheesy potatoes out of the oven, put them on the stove, and looked for silverware in the drawers. After finding the appliances, potholders, and measuring cups, I finally found some forks and spoons. I grabbed one, looking for a plate and trying to wait for the potatoes to cool down. I was warned that the temperature of food, hot or cold, could hurt my vessel and was advised to blow on my food or wait.
As I was rather impatient, as was my stomach, I took to cooling down the food by blowing on it. I took a bite, still feeling a little heat from it and wincing as I did this weird mouth thing to cool it down. Well, at least I know how much it hurts. I took my time as I grabbed another fork full of the potatoes, chewing them and finding the new taste to be better than the burning lava taste from before. After I finished eating the plate of potatoes, I finished off the rest and cleaned up. I threw away the trash, cleaned the counter, and eventually got to cleaning my dishes. I put everything back where it was supposed to go, sitting back down on the couch.
I was now full and excited about who I would be living with, tapping my pencil on my leg and looking down at my sketchbook. I was too fidgety to draw anymore, putting the sketchbook aside and finding it rather exhilarating as I waited. In the time that I was to wait, I thought of what kind of angel I would be living with, zoning out and humming to myself happily.
