«I'm Hongjoong,» the alpha said when the three of them were alone. «I'm the leader of this pack. You already met my mate, Yunho.»
Hongjoong had eased up on the pheromones so that she dared sit up and look at them again.
«Please forgive me for talking to you like I did.»
«I understand the reason, alpha,» she said, bowing her head in respect. «You needed the truth.»
«You may look at me, omega.»
His voice was so different when he wasn't using his alpha power, though the power was always present. Even though he was physically not big, his power and authority was.
«Well, you're here now. I wish I didn't have to deal with a house filled with crazy alphas, but it is what it is. You're safe here in this cell. Yunho will explain everything to you. I'll pop down tomorrow.»
«Thank you, alpha,» she said as he turned his back on them and left.
She sat down on the bottom bunk closest to the door. She felt shaky. Her eyes found the beta, he was looking like he was worried about her.
«Are you okay?»
«Yes, beta. Thank you.»
He nodded to a door on one side of the cell. «There's a toilet and a shower in there. The cupboard over there has food, but the fridge is empty, I'm sorry. We didn't know the cell would be used now. I'll bring you fresh food, but not until tomorrow, okay? You'll find water bottles in the cupboard too.»
«Thank you, beta.»
«You can call me Yunho,» he said with the soft voice she already felt comforted by.
«Thank you, Yunho.» She looked at him. «May I ask a question?»
«Yes, of course.»
«Are there only men in this pack?»
«No.» He shook his head. «We have one female alpha, Sunwoo. She's out on mission right now, but I'm sure she'll come see you when she returns. We also have a few female omegas. None of them came down earlier. They knew better.»
He smiled, and she dared ask another question.
«How many of your alphas have mates?»
«Four. Three are un-mated at the moment.»
She nodded her head, thankful for the answers. She didn't want to push her luck. «Thank you for taking me in, Yunho. You saved me.»
«Yes, I did,» he said, smiling warmly. «Try to get some sleep. Eat and drink if you can. I'll be down tomorrow morning. The less I open the door, the less of your scent can be found upstairs.»
«I understand.»
«So you won't hear from me again today. Is that okay?»
«I'm used to being alone. Thank you.»
«If there's an emergency you can push the red button over there. An alarm will sound upstairs, but everyone will be able to hear it. Do you understand?»
She nodded.
«There are plenty of books to read, and the TV should work fine. I'll see you in the morning. Good night, Ellinor.»
«Good night, Yunho.»
She was exhausted and fell asleep almost immediately. When she woke up, she had the smell of alpha in her nostrils. She was quick on her feet, hiding in the corner behind the bed, only her head visible. Her blue eyes looked at the woman that slowly walked down the stairs.
