«Helena says they've stopped for the night. She's had some water. She's still only seen those four wolves around,» Seonghwa said in their link.

«Should we try to catch up to them tonight, then?»

«I think we're too tired for that. We need to rest now so that we'll be ready when opportunity strikes.»

«The longer we wait, the further we got from the forrest.»

«True,» he had to admit. «But you're tired, my love, I can feel it. You can't hide these things from me anymore. I'm tired too. We should find somewhere safe to rest and see how we feel in the morning. We've gained tremendous on them today. We did good.»

«Okay,» she said, she didn't fight him. He was her alpha and she would listen to him. It felt right. She had been so used to making every decision alone, but now it felt good to have someone to share the responsibility with. «Let's see if we can find shelter in the cliffs over there.»

They got some rest and ate a little. They were back at it again before the sun was up, gaining even more on Helena and the four wolves.

«They knocked her out again,» Seonghwa said after a while.

«Do you think they understood she was communicating with her pack?»

«I don't know.»

«The baby is fine, at least.»

They increased their speed now, there was no room for being late. It was easy following the tracks, they knew Helenas scent very well.

A few hours later they felt the wolves increasing their speed. They were getting closer to a large pack of wolves, and that would make everything more difficult.

«Ellinor, we have to leave our things here, we have to attack soon.»

Ellinor quickly shifted and helped release the backpack from Seonghwa. They hid it under some brush. Then she shifted back and they ran, as quickly as they could.

«You take east, I'll take west,» Seonghwa said in their link. «Do not attack until I say so. When we do attack, your focus is on protecting Helena. I'll take out the others.»

She confirmed, and they separated. It felt very unnatural running in different directions, it was like a part of herself left her, but at least she felt him through their link.

The sound of the big wolf running straight through the woods, not having time to be silent, drew their attention. The other wolves were more quiet, but the big one had Helena on his back, it was impossible for him to move quietly. Ellinor was alert, running as fast as she could to get Helena in sight. The wolves had understood that they were being hunted now, and Ellinor could feel a pack moving towards them from the north. Their backup, probably. She couldn't worry about that now, she had to focus on Helena.

By accident Ellinor rant straight into one of the guarding wolves that were following Helena on the big wolf. It was an accident, but maybe not a bad one. She once ran into a deer this way, suddenly looking straight into the frightened eyes of the animal in front of her, unable to move away from her. She now did as she did then, she opened her mouth and made sure to hit him over the throat, squeezing his windpipe together. She bit so hard that she heard bone and cartilage crackle. He soon went limp under her, and hopefully he didn't get a chance to warn the others.

«One wolf down,» Ellinor said in the link as she went running again, following the big wolfs noise.

«What the hell?!»

«It was an accident. I ran straight into him, I didn't have any other choice than to kill him.»

«Well done, then. Then there's only two guards left, and the big one. I want you to go after the legs on the big one, so we'll get it into the ground. It's really fast, so we have to stop them as soon as possible.»

«Got it.»

When she finally saw the wolf with her own eyes, she was shocked to see the size of him. He was huge! She heard things happening behind her, but now she wouldn't let her eyes leave the target. Soon she was snarling and biting at it's legs. She got a kick to the ribs, but soon she had bitten a big chunk out of his thigh. He kept running, but definitely slower now. He tried to not limp, but he was affected.

The sound of wolves fighting behind her, didn't stop her from going after the monster wolf again. She gave him several wounds, and when he finally understood that he wouldn't be able to run from her, he turned and snarled at her.

«The big one has stopped now,» she said in the link. She hoped Seonghwa would be able to help her soon, but she didn't wait. She had to help Helena that was tightly tied onto the back of this monster.

«Only one guard left,» Seonghwa answered. «I'm coming towards you now.»

How funny, even the uncomfortable feeling of being hit by branches in the face and body became a habit. She hardly noticed anymore. She had been hit in the head again, and it was hard to think anything at all. The running made her sleepy, but when the wolf under her suddenly stopped, she tried to pay attention to what was happening around her.

«Helena! Can you hear me?!»

«Seonghwa!»

«Look for Ellinor. There's only one guard and the big wolf left. Ellinor will help you. Do you understand?»

«Yes, Seonghwa.»

He could tell she wasn't herself, but she tried to shake it off. She lifted her head, didn't see much, but she could feel the wolf stomp around. The only thing she could think to do was trying to move around to distract him. It wasn't much, but really it was all she had right now. She was tied really tightly, but she could move her ankles a little. Her fingers grabbed a hold of some fur, and she pulled out what she could. It didn't really hurt him, but maybe it grabbed his attention for a while. He wasn't quite prepared when someone snapped at his hind legs. He had to defend himself against a small wolf that moved far too fast, snarling and biting wherever it was able to. Helena recognized Ellinors scent, and it felt like a huge relief. So many days of pure terror, but now she wasn't alone anymore.

Ellinor made a surprised yelp when she was attacked from the side. She defended herself from the attack from the last of the guarding wolves by biting wherever she could, and not let go. She got a hold of her back, and the female wolf howled in pain but soon threw Ellinor off of herself.

Not many seconds later Seonghwa was there. With the help of Ellinors distractions he took out the last guard. She went limp right away as he had ripped over her trachea. It was brutal, but a quick and merciful way to die.

The big wolf found himself alone with Helena tied to his back. His she didn't help him much when they were two against one. Even Helenas small attempts to distract him helped. As he went after Ellinor, who kept teasing him, Seonghwa was able to put his mouth over his throat. His teeth sunk into the tissue, and the wolf wasn't able to stand on his feet much longer.

Ellinor quickly bit over the ropes that held Helena. They didn't want her stuck under the monster. Ellinor shifted and pulled her a away from the dying wolf.

«Helena, honey, we're here now.»

Helena tried to open her eyes. She had been in human form so long, she hadn't had enough energy to shift. Now she cried, even though she really didn't have energy for that either. Ellinor let her hands travel her body, checking for injuries, cuts and wounds. She was trying to decide how serious Helenas injuries were.

«Where does it hurt the most?»

«My head.»

«Not the ribs? Stomach?»

«No, just a little sore.»

«Arms? Legs?»

«Only cuts and bruises,» she whispered.

«We have to go,» Seonghwa said. He had finally let go of the monster wolf, it was dead now. «There is a pack on its way, we don't have much time.»
