Joong led them towards the mountains, passed all the traps Ellinor at some point had made. They all knew them well now, and made sure not to go near any of them. The forest was no longer safe, but they would have to use whatever little advantages they still had.
Ellinors scent was easy to follow. Anyone wanting to find her, could easily do so. Damn it, he should have never let the two of them go out by themselves! Not after what happened to Helena. Someone were after them, but why? And who were they?!
They had gotten quite far from the forest when pain struck the entire pack. Confused several of them stopped in their tracks.
«Ellinor!» Yunhos cry through their link was heartfelt. «Is she really... dead?»
«We don't know that,» Hongjoong said. «Come on! Seonghwa seems to be unconscious, but he's not dead. Let's go!»
That got them moving. With anxiety burning in their hearts, they all ran as fast as they could. The cottage was out of reach, but the rest of the pack still would have felt Ellinor leaving their pack-link. The pain still lingered, like it always did when they lost a member.
They got to the burnt out fire in record time. Yunho immediately shifted and started evaluating Seonghwas injuries.
«He's been shot!» Yunho said.
«Shot? With a gun?»
Seonghwa laid there in human form, pale as sheet, but when Yunho put his ear to his chest he could hear a faint heartbeat.
«We have to get him back to the cottage. Now!»
«But Ellinor...» Jongho protested.
«We need to hear what Seonghwa can tell us,» Hongjoong agreed with Yunho.
«We can't loose her track!»
«Jongho!» It wasn't often Hongjoong used his alpha power, but he didn't have the time to argue right now.
«Yes, alpha,» Jongho immediately agreed, with a tiny shiver that was very unlike him. The strong alpha was still loyal to his head alpha.
They worked together. Yunho bandaged the wound in Seonghwas shoulder, and then they got him tied onto Hongjoongs back. Joong saw how uneasy Jongho felt, he could hardly stand still, but he said nothing. He wouldn't go against his alphas wish.
«Will you be a ble to follow without going into battle with anyone?»
«Yes, alpha.»
«You'll fall back immediately if they attack you!»
«Yes, alpha.»
«Will you go alone?»
«Yes, I think that's best, alpha.»
«Fine. No more than three days. We can't go out looking for you too. Do you hear me?»
«Yes, alpha.»
«Return to the forest. We'll have to find a new place to stay, but first ...» Hongjoong was worried about Seonghwa. «Good luck, Jongho.»
«Thank you, alpha.»
Yeosang was furious with Jongho for leaving him, at the same time as he understood. He himself would only hold Jongho back. «Come back to me,» he said through their mate-link.
«I promise I will. I love you, Yeo.»
«I love you too, you idiot.»
They stood with their heads leaned into each others necks for moment, felt their mating marks under the fur. When Jongho left, Yeosang looked at his mate disappearing into the woods for only a moment. Now it was all about Seonghwa.
