It was now a couple of days after christmas, one day away from new years eve. Christmas was great, mom and dad were so happy with the frame. I also told Sophie about everything about Alex and his ex, which calmed her down. I realized I was going to be all alone on New Year's eve. My ex and I always went out and he is out of the picture. I can't hang out with Zoey, we haven't talked since the last time. Alex probably has plans, I don't want to be desperate enough to ask him. I looked in my empty fridge and decided to do some shopping. There were a lot of people that were out shopping.

-"Dol? Hey, what are you doing here?" Said a very familiar voice. I turned around to see him. He looked happy to see me.

-"Hey, I'm just doing some late shopping."

-"Shopping for a big party?"

-"Hah no it's just me on New years eve, home."

-"If you want you can join me and Miles at my place."

-"Really?" I said as my face just shined up.

-"Yeah of course. I don't want you to be alone."

-"Um what time? I can come early and help with the food."

-"You can come by at like 5pm."

-"Any dress code I need to know?" I teased.

-"Just come as you are. That's enough." He said and looked up and down with a shy smirk.

-"Great, then I will see you tomorrow at 5pm." I said with a smile. I was so happy.

The next day felt so long, I was so excited for tonight. Luckily work made me busy and distracted. I ended at 4pm so I had an hour to get ready. I took a 30 min hot shower and put on a simple makeup look. With glitter eyelids and shiny lips. I put on a glitter blouse that was bare in the back with gray jeans. I hope I didn't look like I was trying too hard to look good, but the truth was I wanted to look so good for him. I looked at my phone hoping I didn't lose track of time. 04:54pm

-"Shit." I whispered to myself.

I almost forgot I had a christmas gift for Al, It was a bandana. For some reason it felt like I had to buy that for him.

When I knocked on his door he screamed that I could just open the door. They were both under stress in the kitchen. Layla by Derek & The Dominos was blasting at high volume, filling the whole apartment with both of their voices as they sang the lyrics passionately to each other.

-"Hey guys. I'm sorry if I'm a little late." I said as they stopped singing and they both looked at me now.

-"Wow Dol. You look amazing." He said as he looked up and down on me with a hunger in his eyes. His comment made me blush uncontrollably.

-"Thank you, You too. By the way I have a present for you Al. Sorry Miles, I haven't had time to buy something for you."

-"No worries."

-"To me? You didn't have to do that."

-"Just open it." I said and handed him a black box.

He carefully opened the box to reveal the bandana.

-"This is so cool. Thank you so much Dol. I'm so gonna wear it on our tour."

-"Um, do you need help with anything?" I said nervously, his comment made me so distracted.

-"If you want you can cut the salad. Miles sucks at doing that and I have to make the steak."

-"Hey, it's not me fault you don't like the way I cut me salad."

-"Erm sure." After a while Everybody wants to rule the world started playing.

-"This song just makes me wanna dance so bad. Dance with me Dol." Alex said and offered his hand to me. Which I gladly took. He immediately started to swing me around and make me giggle the way only he could make me do.

-"There's a room where the light won't find you. Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down. When they do I'll be right behind you!" We all three screamed the lyrics on the top of our lungs and just danced the night away.

-"Well I think it's time for food now." Said Alex after the song was finished. We all sat down at his table to enjoy the meal we all created.

-"This is really good."

-"Thank you, It was a new recipe actually. I'm glad you liked it."

-"Liked is an understatement Al."

The dinner was only filled with a mixture of deep conversions and laughter. Alex and Miles were really interesting to talk to, about anything to be honest. It really felt like I could talk about anything with them and they wouldn't judge me at all. I never really had any guy friends.

-"I wanna dance more." I said as I drank my last splash of wine in my glass. They both looked at me confused at first. But when I put We didn't start the fire by Billy Joel, they couldn't resist themselves from not dancing.

-"We didn't start the fire. It was always burning, since the world's been turning." We sang it so loud that his neighbors must have heard. We just danced and didn't care about anything. It felt amazing, I actually felt happiness at that moment after everything shitty that had happened. Then Miles put on Hot Stuff by Donna Summer, which just made us sing louder and danced more. After that song Al put on come together by The Beatles. We just danced all night long. I put on Maneater by Daryl Hall & John Oates after a while. Then after a while we heard a lot of fireworks, and we got worried we might have missed the countdown. We all walked out to his balcony to see all of the fireworks. It looked amazing with all of the fireworks that lit up the dark sky. The sky looked sticky like black treacle.

-"It's 5 minutes left now." Said Miles.

-"I need a smoke." Said alex and pulled out a pack of blue camels with his black lighter.

-"Me too." Responded Miles and pulled out his own pack and lighter. They both lit a cigarette and blew their smoke clouds away from me. We got lost in conversions again.

-"Oh, there are three seconds left now." Miles said as he looked done on his phone.

-"May I?" He said and pulled himself closer to me. Our nose tips slightly touched and our eyes met.

-"Yes, you may" I gave him a smile.

Our lips met and it was the best way to start the new year. I hoped this was going to be a better one...
