Spencer's POV
It's my bye week, and I'm apparently getting married. Liv seems sure about this decision, but I can help but worry it will all blow up in our face. Not to mention, after all that we've been through, Liv deserves so much more than a courthouse wedding.
I lean over, kissing the side of her head as she sleeps peacefully in my arms. She was so excited when I finally agreed that I decided to table the discussion, but my mind is running wild, envisioning every way this plan could go wrong. If we can't keep this a secret and our families find out, God forbid from the internet, Liv and I will have to leave the country. She seems to think otherwise, but between the mother's alone, we'll never survive.
Our door slowly opens, and I glance over to see our son making his nightly appearance. Liv doesn't open her eyes, but she must hear the little steps as well because she scoots closer into me to make room for Jace to climb in bed beside her.
"What happened to staying in our big boy bed all night?" I whisper.
"Shh, daddy. My mommy is sleeping." He completely ignores my question as he positions himself comfortably in our bed. I feel movement from Liv, and I know she's trying to hold in her laugh.
"There goes morning sex," I mumble under my breath, prompting Liv to elbow me right in the stomach. I'll be reading all the terms and conditions before I agree to another child.
It doesn't take long before my little family is fast asleep in my arms. As much as I'd prefer for my toddler to be in his own bed, I can't deny how at peace I feel having both of them here with me. Watching my perfect family, an idea pops in my head. I wiggle my arm free from underneath Liv and cautiously get out of bed on the hunt for my laptop to set my plan into motion. If I'm not going to be able to sleep, I may as well make good use of my night.
Everything falls into place nicely, and all that's left is for Liv to actually agree to the trip. She may not be too ecstatic about Jace missing school, but honestly, he's four. What all could they possibly be doing in school?
Of all the trips Liv and I have taken, I've never packed our bags. Now, I see why. The entire process overwhelms me, and whatever we don't have, we'll buy once we get there. I texted my teammate Dre who, of course, was also up, and he agreed to keep Bentley for a few days. It is all starting to feel real, and I can't wait for Liv and Jace to wake up. Glancing at the clock, I notice there's time for me to still get a few hours of sleep, so I head back into our room to my family climbing in bed full of excitement for what's to come in the morning.
"Babe... Spencer," I faintly hear, opening my eyes to the most gorgeous face I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.
"What time is it?" I ask, still half asleep?
"7:30, but I think I should be the one asking the questions. Why are there suitcases at our front door?" Liv inquires though she doesn't sound upset, which is a positive sign.
"Oh, that. We're going on a trip." I respond nonchalantly, desperately trying to sneak in a few extra moments of sleep.
"A trip? Did I miss when we talked about this?" Liv questions sarcastically.
"Nope, babe. I made an executive decision." I pull the blanket over my head. I've planned this nice surprise for her, and she won't even allow me a few moments of peace.
"An executive decision?" She erupts in laughter before snatching the blanket off of me. "We don't make 'executive decisions,' so start talking, James."
I sit up, painfullyaccepting the fact that I won't be getting another minute of sleep. "It's a surprise, Liv. Trust me?" I capture her gaze.
"Ughhhh," she leans down, placing a tender kiss on my lips. "You know I can't resist those eyes."
