TW: This chapter mentions mental health and fertility struggles

"This is what you want?" I ask timidly.

"This is what I want," Jordan responds assertively.

"But—"

"No buts, Olivia. This is none of your business. It never was. If I wanted your opinion, I would've come to you." His voice raises an octave, and his patience is definitely running thin.

"Jordan, you're my brother—"

"Exactly, Olivia." He again cuts me off. "And this is between my wife and me. Maybe instead of being knee-deep in my marriage, you should focus on your own. Let's not forget the only reason you know this information is because you were eavesdropping on your husband."

"Chill, J." My otherwise silent husband decides to defend me, if you want to call it that, from my brother's cruel demeanor.

"Finally," I mumble under my breath.

"Enough, Liv. You listened in on my conversation with J and decided to weaponize information. I may not be a fan of how he's speaking to you, but he's right."

And just like that, the little support I thought I had from Spencer goes right out of the window.

"So you're just okay with having Simone sitting out on our couch knowing she cheated on him?" I narrow my glance on Spencer.

"Not my wife, not my marriage. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." He shrugs his shoulders daring me to completely lose it.

"And what exactly does that mean, honey?" I force the words out as calmly as possible.

"Exactly what I said, dear. Not my wife, not my marriage. I'd much rather focus on the issues brewing in my own home." He says pointedly.

"I cannot believe this." I huff before storming out of the room.

"Olivia." They both call after me, but I'm too blinded by fury, and I continue my exit running right into Simone.

"Woah. Who pissed you off?" She teases.

"You really don't—"

"OLIVIA!" Spencer screams before grabbing my arm and dragging me back to our bedroom. He doesn't yell at me, ever, not since that one argument pre-Jace. He promised me he'd never yell, and he kept that promise. This isn't good. Very bad.

"Your selfishness the past few days is honestly incredible. Did you plan to just outright ignore what your brother wants? Of course, you did. It's all about what you want, right?" He throws his hands up in frustration.

"I'm selfish for trying to protect my brother?" I rebuttal

"This isn't about you protecting him, and you know it. He wants his family Olivia. Even if you disagree, it isn't your place." He begins going through his drawers, pulling out clothes.

"So we get in one fight, and you're what? You're just going to leave?" My lip begins to tremble as tears threaten to spill down my cheeks.

"No, Olivia. I'm going to show J the practice facility, and we're going to get in a few reps while we're there." He holds up his workout clothes as a show of proof.

"For you to know that I'm so upset with you right now that I could even consider leaving, which by the way, I never would, should tell you something." He slams his drawer shut and goes into the bathroom to change.

"Spencer. I'm sorry." I poke my head in.

"Do you even know what you're apologizing for, Liv?" He sighs.
