"You heard me right." I laugh at my wife, whose jaw is hanging on the ground.
"One. Hundred. Sixty. Million. American. Dollars?" She struggles to wrap her head around the massive figure. My reaction was much like hers when my manager first brought me the offer.
"That's right, baby. 160 mil for five years. Don't forget, 100 mil of that is guaranteed." She rocks Sienna in her arms, although I'm not sure if she's trying to calm herself or the baby.
"Spence, that's a lot of money. Woah. Wow. I—"
"I know. The kids are set for life, Liv. The best part is, thanks to all the family endorsement deals I got after the live video your mom suggested, we won't even have to touch a penny of the contract money." I reach down for my other baby girl, who's been staring up at me with her beautiful brown eyes. She looks so much like Liv.
"I. Uh. So does this mean we're staying?" She still struggles to form a coherent thought.
"Hell yeah, girl, we're staying." I wink at her, and she squeals, startling my princesses.
"Sorry little ones. Mama's new house budget just gained a few zeroes. I can't wait to meet with our designer." She beams, and I silently begin to wonder if I've just released a monster.
"I gotta call J. I heard that he's the one who floated the figure for our new contract to the GM. We owe him dinner or something." I place Josslyn back down, which immediately draws tears from my sweet girl.
"I got it. I'm coming." Jace comes running through the door, and I can't help but smile at how protective my boy is of his sisters.
He pushes over his stool, allowing him to climb up and reach in the crib fitting his small finger perfectly into her tiny palm. She wastes no time wrapping her tiny fingers around his.
"Don't cry, Joss. I'm right here." He attempts to soothe her, and it must work based on the uptick of her tiny lips. These little girls are completely obsessed with Mr. Jace, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
"So, what's good with J and Simone?" I ask my wife, who has surprisingly held out on me for the past few days. I know she knows what's going on by now.
"You should probably talk to Jordan." She quickly responds. I slightly raise my eyebrow at her because there's no way this is my wife, the woman who couldn't mind her own business even if her life depended on it.
"Okay, Liv. I see you finally learning." I nudge her before being quickly greeted by her signature eye roll.
"You should talk to him, though. Soon. Then, me and you can talk about it." She nudges me back, and I knew this newfound attitude of minding her own business was too good to be true.
"Mommy, can I hold her, please? She wants me to hold her." Jace begs.
"Oh really? And, how do you know this?" Liv teases him.
"She told me." He answers confidently.
"I didn't hear anything, did you?" She eyes me.
"I think I did," I answer, sticking my tongue out at her. My son reaches out to fist bump me, and I soak up the moment. We're already outnumbered. We gotta make sure we stick together.
"Aight, lil man, you know the drill." I point toward the rocking chair, and he runs over to get situated. I grab Josslyn out of her crib and walk her over to Jace, who waits, arms outstretched. The minute I set her down, he begins talking to her in some random language that she obviously doesn't understand. To be honest, I'm not even sure he understands it, but they both get a kick out of it, and that's all that matters.
