{The Day I Met Her.}
Act 4.

|[January 7th, 2026. Night.]|

I fell to the ground, my legs exhausted from all that running. My sword was thrown away, and so did the imp's. She lied besides me, the two of us gasping for air.

"WOO! THAT. WAS. AWESOME!!" Yuuki shouted.

"Now I know what the Sleeping Knights is capable of!" My tone slightly raised.

"Shiki, that punch-kick combo was sooo cool! And it happened so quick, I almost didn't see it!"

"I know, my body just moved on its own! I almost didn't remember I did that!"

Her eyes grew bright, "I mean, I could've just dropped down normally after that last hit, but my legs just decided to do a back flip!"

"Same here, we were really on the same page, huh!"

She catched her breath, still smiling.

"Yeah... Yeah, you bet we were!"

Still lying on the ground, the imp raised her hand above my chest. She had her palm closed, so I bumped hers back with mine. Man... We're awesome. Nothing like a little self pride after a big fight, amiright?

Here comes the rest, I can already hear them gasping and breathing heavily.

"Man... That was sick, I gotta give you that." Nori, catching her breath.

"Now, I can see why Yuuki picked you." Siune followed.

"Ehehe~ I knew you were the right one~!"

Yuuki fisted my cheek, playing around my face. Ahaha... This feels nice.

This feeling... No, no! I don't! I can't just feel THAT way to someone I just met! Love in first sight is a lie, and I never trusted it! Shit, I'm blushing so much.

"Hey! You're all red in the face! What's wrong?" Yuuki waves in front of my face, trying to snap me back.

"It's- It's the battle! Just some adrenaline, that's all!"

"Ah, really? I still feel it too! That was a pretty big fight after all, hehe!"

"Right..."

This girl... She's a bit too much for me. But, oddly I'm fine with that. It's nice to have someone brighter than you around, so you can even the mood a little.

"So, what do you think?" The short salamander asked.

I sat down with my hands crossed, alright... Let's break this down!

"Jun and Tecchi are clearly great tanks. Nori, Yuuki, and Talken can deal damage quick and hard, perfect DPS mains. Siune is a great supporter that keeps everything in check constantly without wasting mana too much."

They all smiled eagerly, waiting for my approval. I only nodded, giving them a thumbs up.

"If you guys are this good, I wonder why you haven't beaten that boss yet!"

"Really?! You mean it?" The imp beside me sat up in excitement.

"Hmm. You guys are the best party I've been in, ever."

"Ehehe~ thank you!"

Yuuki stood back first, cleaning her gown from the dirt and grass. She turned to me afterwards, lending a hand to pull me up.

Wow... That moment, just now. A sight to remember. The smile of the purple-haired girl shines more than that bright moon behind her, I don't know if I'm strong enough to lend back my hand to her.

I mustered up the will to raise my hand, finally grasping hers. She pulled me up, patting the dust away from my chest. Little by little, she's trying to reel me in. I can't just catch feelings...

"Alrighty, then. We have to plan for the boss tomorrow, right? Off we go to the Inn!"

"Hmm! You're right!" The salamander nodded.

We all stretched a little before summoning our wings, the imp seems like she still has some spirit in her, didn't take that long for her to levitate above us.

"Come on! Last one in treats us a sweet drink!" She uttered, already high up in the air.

"You're on!"

Well, everyone's still in a great mood. That salamander guy, what's his name again? Jun. He's pretty comfortable with Yuuki, huh? Actually, everyone seems to be happy with her as a leader. If only I had that much confidence, didn't have any experience in being a guild leader when I momentarily became one back then.

All this spacing out kinda makes me appreciate the scenery more. This space is pretty, excluding those swamps below or the bees and other horrible monstrosities around here. I should take a picture, save it to the collection.

"Heeey~! Are you coming, Shiki?" Yuuki shouted.

"Hold up a second!"

*Snap!*

Alright, a nice open space with thin grass, chilly air, the bright moon shining over it, and the beautiful stars on the skies. That's a keeper. Closing the weirdly shaped camera, I quickly flew back to the people. We started heading for the teleporter, passing through small monsters and gooey mud below us. It's not that far, just a couple minutes I suppose.

"What were you doing back there, Shiki?"

I looked to the left, finding a purple elf smiling beside me.

"Taking a picture. That was a nice spot, albeit being riddled with giant monkeys trying to kill you."

"Ahaha! Yeah, I agree! If only there weren't mobs that spawned there, rolling around in the grass would be sooo fun!"

"Fun, huh? Never thought about taking a nap that way."

"Well, yeah! Isn't it nice to just lay back and feel the grass in your back?"

"Hehe. I guess you're right, Yuuki. It is pretty fun."

"Right~? Hey, wanna try it some time?"

My cheeks became reddened, "Wh-what?! Like, the two of us?!"

"Sure! Why not? It'll be a blast, I'll tell ya!"

"Ah... Yeah, sure. Sometime."

"Really? Yaaay!" She excitedly uttered, "Let's find a good spot somewhere, alright?"

"Alright... I'll be sure to ring you when I do."

"Message me anytime!"

Her excitement was so merry, she spun her body around while still mid-air. Did she... Just asked me out? A girl?! I thought guys are supposed to do that! Man, I'm miserable. I'll be sure to remember that... For her.

Oh god... Something's stabbing the back of my head. That salamander guy, he's eyeing me from my back, isn't he.

Yes, super short chapter. Is this acceptable? I don't know, I'm not the reader. Couldn't have I just put this in the previous chapter? Definitely. Am I just making this fic longer on purpose? Uh... Sorry...

So, yeah. Every chapter I do is always around the same length, except for very few ones. I had already planned to make every chapter have the same length since before I even wrote chapter 1!
