{The Strings Of Trusts.}
Act 8.|[January 11th, 2026. Afternoon.]|
Where is this? This long hallway feels like a sci-fi movie set. Like an alien spaceship, sailing across the space. The walls are made out of steel, and the air is really tight and cold. I've never seen this part of the hospital before, and I've been here for years now.
"Yuuki was born in May 2010. It was a difficult birth, so a cesarean section was performed."
May... C section... I was born that way too.
"An emergency blood transfusion was given that procedure. Unfortunately, the blood was contaminated by a virus."
"A virus? How? That's not possible, every hospitals have checked and analyzed blood samples before and after they were donated."
We walked in silence, "...The world is sometimes a cruel place."
No way... But, how...
"What do you mean by that...?!"
"We have no explanations too, Mister Shinohara. I tried to dig it up myself, but it seems information on that is scarce and hazy at best. I wasn't there when she was born, after all."
"Damn...!!"
My teeth were clenched, and my fists were no longer cold from all the compressed air this hallway produced. All these codenames on the floor we've been passing by, Z-4 Zone, B-3 Zone, what the hell are these? Where have I stepped into?
"The contamination was discovered that September, on her mother's post-transfusion infection tests. By that time, the entire family was already infected."
After he said that, we stopped. R-4 Zone... I looked to the left, where his eyes were focused on. 'Special Measuring Equipment Room #1'
He scanned an ID card to a scanner near the door, and we entered the room. It's empty, a bench and another door leading somewhere.
To the left, was a pitch black window. What is this room? It's so spacious, yet so small at the same time. I can't really explain the feeling, it's like you know that something is wrong.
"Beyond this is an air tight, sterile room. I... hope you understand."

My god... Who-- what, n-no...
My body was shaking. I couldn't hold my crutch correctly, almost crumbling my leg with every step I took. I threw my bag away, pushing myself to the window. My hand shook as I bashed the glass wall that was separating me from her, and tears were instantly flowing, even only a little. That's-- that's-- that's--
No...no... no... no... no... no... NO.
"What is- what... Doc, what is-"
"That's her. And the large contraption she's lying on, is the Medicuboid."
Exactly the same... just like the print in that folder. Big bed, wires everywhere strapped directly into the patient's body, and half of the head closed by another gigantic piece on top. The only thing I can hear is that... horrifying heartbeat monitor. Nothing else... no people going by, no rattling paper noises, nothing... Just her heartbeat...
Oh my god--oh my god... I can't-- breath. There's no way... no... It's... that's her...? A dream... a nightmare... I can't breath... my chest...!
STOP. BREATH, DAMNIT, BREATH!
