{The Strings Of Trusts.}
Act 3.|[January 9th, 2026. Early Morning.]|
Our steps weren't even that loud, yet it echoed throughout the iron walls. The Blackiron Palace. Despite it's name, there's more gray than black in here. You wouldn't be able to see inside if it's all painted black, after all.
Yuuki was still holding on to me. A lost child trying to find her way home, at least that's how I imagined the look on her face. We all didn't say anything walking here, not even small mumbles. Yet despite our unusual silence, most of us still kept our heads high, looking forward to our now finished goal.
It was just the sounds of our steps and breaths, until our salamander tank excitedly approached the long monument first. Jun's voice, suddenly all loud and bark, echoed louder than any noise we made. Encouraging, but still not enough for our guild leader to raise her head.
"Come on, We're here!" He uttered.
"Yeah, come on!" Nori followed.
I brought the imp closer to the stone carvings, pulling her ever so slightly. Even walking up the small flight of stairs were a trouble, but I kept on pulling her upwards. Arriving, the two of us scanned thoroughly, looking at the names of each floor's clearers.
With over 27 floors cleared, hundreds of names from previous clearer has been listed in here. It's hard to find, even though we can just look for it based on the individual floors, taking the time to skip between the lists of players was definitely a pain. But nevertheless, we kept looking and looking.
"Up there." Yuuki utters, pointing towards a certain group of names.
"Yeah... there we are."
And there it is. All seven of us, carved onto this huge stone monument. Vertically, up to down, our names were listed;
Yuuki,
Siune,
Tecchi,
Talken,
Jun,
Nori,
Shiki.
The Sleeping Knights emblem were next to all of the names, excluding mine. Still, this'll always make me proud. I abled to defeat a floor boss with only six other people, and these guys got their dream came true. Out of the many, many names of other players here... ours will be the greatest.
We finally did it... Didn't we, Yuuki?
...
Hm...
Those eyes of hers were latched on, and small tears bundled in her eyes. Yuuki... This is all because of our hard work. Our dream has been achieved, isn't that right? Heh, I guess I couldn't stop myself from tearing up if such an achievement were to be accomplished, to them, this is something more than just having their names carved there.
It's their memories together, and the strong bonds they have, the proof... that they were here.
"Hey... It's there now. It's beautiful, isn't it?" I uttered, leaning my head next to hers.
"Our names, it's there... It's so beautiful, I... I really can't believe it. It's finally there, after all this time."
"Hey! Let's take this picture!"
An echoing voice from our back, coming from none other than the salamander boy himself. Man, what would I do without you here, man. This whole palace would just be filled with silence and tears... lots of tears. As Jun settled up that camera, we turned back. We switched hands, yet the two of us still held onto each other.
