{The Day I Met Her.}
Act 5.

|[January 7th, 2026. Near Midnight.]|

"Aaah... I'm beat!"

I groan, drinking maliciously on a jug of iced tea. It's not really hot, but after doing a pretty big battle I just decided to take off my coat and stick with the long-sleeve shirt inside. Jun and the other boys did it too, they removed their armours and rested with shirts and pants. The girls... Well, Siune and Nori wasn't wearing much protection in the first place, Yuuki took off her breastplate and uh... Let's not stare at her intently.

"Man... I never knew walking was such a hassle!" Yuuki uttered, leaning her chin on the table.

"True that..." Nori follows, trying not to fall asleep on her own hand.

For just a couple seconds, I looked at them all. This is... What it feels to have people that trust in you. Haha, it's really just a fancy way to say "Friends". I always was a loner, not that I can't talk to other people, I just never thought it was all that necessary to lend my energy to just... Speak. Kirito and Asuna were old partners of mine, and I never really talk much to his friends anyway.

It's nice... To have friends. Alright! I'm gonna make em' proud. I finish my jug of drink and instantly stood up, I found a wooden board with chess pieces and put it up on the table they all were around.

"Woah... What's this?" Jun wondered.

"A board. That's literally it." Nori, in her tired voice.

Seven pieces, and... I need a big piece. I opened my menu and took out a blue bottle of mana. Setting them down, I arrange the seven pieces next to each other facing the potion.

"Alright, here's how I'm gonna picture the raid." I took a breath and cleared my throat, "Listen up, alright!"

"Yessir..." Everyone answered in a tired manner.

"Come on, I thought you guys were serious about this thing!"

They all tried their best to listen, Yuuki yawned a big one and slapped her cheeks a little, Tecchi tried to keep Jun and Talken awake by tapping their shoulders, Siune... She's actually awake and fine.

Well, might as well finish this quickly before they all crash and pass out.

"The 27th floor boss, I'm sure you all have seen it before since you fought it a while back right?"

"Yeah. The four-armed giant." Jun answers, yawning.

"Correct. Two heads, two giant hammers, and also long chains." I opened my palm, "This thing is oddly perceptive, and I reckon it's because it has two heads."

"...Makes sense." Nori utters.

"Closing in on this guy is no easy matter, those two hammers are quick. WAYYY more quicker than the ape's club we fought before. Plus, it has four hands, it can attack with both those hammers and use the chains with the rest."

"Yeah, we got absolutely destroyed by those things back then! We just can't find the right time to attack it!" Yuuki raised her hand.

"Yeah, it's a real doozy. But, there is. Everytime the Hammer falls vertically, there's a 0.7 second opening on its hands. That's enough to get 2 to 3 hits in. Then again, keeping the chains in check is also a thing. The boss can charge at you if we don't move, so running is integral."

"Right." Talken mumbled.

"Chipping away its HP is also hard. It does have a weak point in the back, but circling the boss while focusing and dodging its chains is already hard to do. It is completely possible though, but you need someone quick and versatile."

"And..." The imp, focusing on my detailed words.

"That's where Yuuki comes in. She can use charged attacks to keep damaging it constantly, while Jun and Tecchi keeps aggro with their taunt skills. Also remember, ignore the chains people! Those serve only for pressure and keeping focus in the battle."

"Right, ignore them." Tecchi nods.

I moved around the chess pieces, placing them accordingly in twos.

"Remember that 0.7 delay I said earlier? You can use sword skills to further damage it quickly. Me, Nori, and Talken will be focusing on that."

"So that leaves Siune in the back for support, is it enough?" Yuuki thought, with her finger on her chin.

"Hey, they don't call me the Godspeed Tank for nothing. I'll run around you all with a speed buff on, keeping health and defense in check. If I run fast enough, I should be able to go back and forth between the frontline and the boss' back. There, I can switch with Yuuki if there's an emergency. "

"But then, I won't have time to go back!" Yuuki exclaimed.

"Yes you do. I know you're fast, 0.7 seconds should be enough."

"Woah... That's... Almost impossible." Nori awed.

It might not be much, but if there truly were to be a situation where that happen, I know she can do it.

"...Alright! I'll give it my all!" Yuuki lightly shouts, boosting morale on the party.

"Also, the Boss has a berserk stage on half health. It can use sword skills and release poison breaths!"

"We never reached that far, aha~" Nori sighs.

"We will. Trust me. And don't you guys dare get hit by the poison, it'll be a pain for me AND Siune to clear that status effect."

"Got it! Watch the chains and steer from poison!" Jun happily utters. "But how do you know this?"

I looked away, hiding my eyes. "I... Have experience, and friends in low places."

"Oh... Sorry..." He uttered.

"Don't worry about it, just trust me." I follow, "Anyways, that's about it. Questions?"

They all sat in silence, not a single one raising their hand. And I guess I have my answer. I smile, putting both of my hands on my hip.

"It's gonna be a tough one, I know. But judging from your guys' teamwork, I think we can nail it."

Everyone smiles to each other, further motivated from the point I made. The Sleeping Knights are pairs of oddly mysterious people, yet I feel the love they have for each other are more than anything I could ever have. Yuuki, being the cheerful person she is, took her jug of drink and ordered a cheers.

"Here's to tomorrow's battle!"

They all took their drinks and raised them high. I... Haha, I Already finished mine. It won't stop me to join them, as I took that bottle of mana potion and raised it together.

"Cheers!" Our collective voices echo the Inn walls.

Yeah... This feels good. I never thought that one day I would make people genuinely trust in me, not anymore... I need to catch some 'fresh' air. I stood up and asked the guild.

"Hey guys, can I get uh... A bit of fresh air outside?"

"Yeah, sure! Just don't run off, okay~" The spriggan answered me.

Wow, that's... A little too easy. I was expecting them to be angry, or suspicious of me because of this sudden request, but nope. Well, I'm going to have to recharge my social batteries a little.

"I won't run, I promise!"

Planning. Something I'm good at. Out of the many bad aspects in my life, planning isn't one of them. I'm glad I get to use that skill somehow.
