"Mom?" Lily Serenity Evans asked when she found one familiar woman standing in the middle of the training center.

"Still not done with Gryffindor?" asked Erica Evans kindly, her green eyes an exact copy of her daughter's.

"Potter practically strapped me to a hospital bed for the past week," Lily rolled her eyes. "I could have been done with Gryffindor by now if it wasn't for that mission."

"Mission?" asked Erica Evans, those same emerald eyes gaining the famous mama bear flash.

"I agreed to it," Lily explained.

"James did not tell us anything about a mission," said Erica, sounding like she was ready to kill someone.

"Mom. I've been begging him for a mission for a while now. Well, not technically begging, but you know what I mean. I hope, at least."

"I'll kill him later," the mother waved her hand as if the topic would usher away with a magic wand. "Now, how are you?"

"Good," the daughter said briefly. "Where have you lot been?"

"Always heading straight to the point. You remind me of someone."

"Dad?"

"Myself," Erica corrected.

"Where is Dad?" asked the daughter who had not seen her father in years.

"He has a complicated situation."

"Is he okay?"

"Physically? Yes. He doesn't have any broken bones," Erica assured. "Although, mentally, I worry for him. He's stressed."

"He could take a break."

"If only it was that easy," Erica shook her head with a little smile. "You are so much like him."

"Well, I can't agree or disagree because I haven't seen him in years."

"Lily. He had to disappear."

"Were there some Death Eaters after him?"

"No."

"Then why?"

"They were after someone else he promised he would protect," Erica explained. "I don't think I can mention names. That is not my story to tell."

"It's his?" the redhead guessed.

"It's complicated," sighed Erica. "We didn't expect something like... that to happen, but it did."

"What happened?"

"You might have to ask your father that."

"Am I going to go through a maze just to get a simple answer?" asked Lily, not liking the secretive dress that the conversation decided to wear.

"Welcome to the spy life. It's never easy."

"I agree," Marlene entered the conversation. "But this is what we decided to sign up for. It's nice sometimes."

"How much of that did you hear?"

"Just the last sentence Mrs. Evans said," Marlene assured the redhead. "I don't like to intrude into personal conversations."

"5:35?"

"Yup," nodded Marlene, confirming it is the assigned time they agreed to train together.

"Will Potter kill you for this?"
