"Lils?"

Lily Evans looked up, her hair whipping around her shoulders and the headset she was previously wearing had slipped down around her neck.
Alice Longbottom was looking at her with an urgent glint in her eye.

"Yep?"

Alice took Lily's wrist and pulled her into a quieter corner of the Ravenclaw decoding center.
"First off... I'm definitely pregnant."

"Really? Have you told Frank?"

Alice nodded, hiding a smile behind her hand before biting her lip, "He's excited."

"That's amazing, Alice!" Lily cried, reaching over to hug her excitedly.

"But there was something else I wanted to talk to you about."

"Oh?"

"Your baby. I won't pressure you to tell me who got you pregnant... but it was James, wasn't it?"

Slowly, with her heart still stopped dead, Lily nodded. She didn't see any point in lying.
"Yeah, it's his. We'd been sleeping with each other about a month or two, and we only just got together when I told him I was pregnant... so if my dad asks, that is most definitely not the case, alright?"

Alice chuckled, "Okay, honey. Congratulations by the way. Not only on the baby, but on the relationship, and on being the first girl in the world to make James Potter deliriously happy."

Lily could help but blush, her cheeks flushing furiously with heat.
"Thank you," she whispered.

"Oh one more thing: please let me tell Frank?"

"Frank?"

Alice nodded, "Please? He's still got a month out of active duty and he needs all the things that will cheer him up. Also I can't promise I won't tell him by accident so I'd rather do so with your blessing."

This made Lily laugh considerably, "Alright fine. But it stays between the four of us, at least for a while."

"Absolutely."

Lily grinned, before saying, "Our babies are gonna be best friends!"

For the first time since Lily found out she was pregnant, she realised that she and James didn't have to do this all alone.

Lily and Sirius unpacked their various pieces of equipment back into the armoury in relative silence. The mission had been a success but they were both tired.

"You hungry?" Sirius asked as they were finishing up.

"Starving."

"Want to grab an early dinner and a drink?"

Lily nodded enthusiastically, "I'll take you up on the food as long as you're paying."

Sirius laughed, offering her his arm and leading her back outside HQ to find a restaurant they could eat at in the city.
"On that topic, why didn't you drink the other night? I know for a fact you can out-drink half of the arseholes that were there."

Lily laughed and attempted to use his humour as a hiding place for her genuine terror at being asked that question. She couldn't tell him that she was pregnant, at least not yet. Could she?
