27. Improve on yesterday

Mateo's pov

Cassidy walks into the office with her normal 'trying to look sexy' walk. "What is the reason I have been called in here" She smirks as she sits down at a chair in front of the desk. 

My hand fiddles with my bottom lip for a moment before stopping to talk "I hate to say this but  need a favour from you" I sigh. I hate doing this, I don't want to move on from Conner but maybe that is what it will take to get her back. 

I also need to tell her abut what really happened in the office because she thinks I cheated on her, which I didn't, but when I tried she ran off with another guy. Everything is so complicated right now and happening so quickly I haven't had much time to think about anything. 

"Sure, anything for a hot ass like yours" She smirks again. I scoff in my head, I might not be with Conner right now but she knows owns my heart, no one else can have it. "I need you to fake date me for a little bit until I get Conner back" I sigh. Her face instantly lights up and she gets all giddy. 

"No way" She fans her self. "Don't make a big deal out of it" I pinch the bridge of my nose, already regretting this. 

"So when can we go public with it. I want everyone to know that we are together" She asks, leaning forward in her chair more. "Never" I respond. "We aren't going public with this" I state. 

I am not putting a lie into the public. 

"Well that takes all the fun out of it. Do I dare ask what happened between you and Conner, you guys seemed to be really in love" She asks, settling back down in her seat. 

We are in love, I just need her to realise it after I tell her the truth. 

The truth. 

I need to tell her the truth right now. 

Why is it only springing on me right now?

I quickly get out of the chair and rush out of the castle and into the car.

I pound on the front door of the house the girls are staying at. No answer.

I pound again but it gets opened in the middle "Would you stop it, one damn knock is enough" Conner groans before realising its me. 

We stand silent for a second before she says "What do you want" She folds her arms over her chest. 

"We need to talk" I utter, looking straight at her to let know I am serious. "What happens if I say no" She shrugs. 

"Then I don't care. I am talking to you either way" I put my tone stern. She is going to hear what I have to say. She rolls her eyes than moves aside, letting me through the door. 

I walk in the living room to see everyone sitting down. As soon as they see me they tense up and look behind me at Conner. "Gabbie, come here" I point my finger to her and nod my head over in my direction. 

I grab Conner's hand with mine and she doesn't pull away. At first I feel that she wants to but her hand settles in mine and doesn't move. 

I pull Conner up the stairs and Gabbie follows behind us. I lead Conner into her room and shut the door behind Gabbie, letting go of Conner's hand. 

Conner and Gabbie sit down on the edge of the bed and just look at me in confusion. "3 some?" Gabbie blurts, she covers her mouth with her hand right afterwards realising what she just said "Sorry, baby brain" She winces. 

Conner bites her bottom lip trying to hold back a smile. 

"I asked Gabbie to come in here to back me up because she knows the truth" I tell Conner. Her smile slowly goes away and her teeth release her bottom lip. 

She sighs knowing what this about. Gabbie clicks in to and her smile also goes away. 

"Conner I didn't cheat on you. Cassidy kissed me and Gabbie saw that but she didn't see my pushing her away. I swear to you Conner on my entire life that I would never cheat on you, you mean way to much to me for me to do that" I tell her the truth. 

She looks at Gabbie to see if this is true and Gabbie nods yes. I can see a wave of relief flood Conner by the way her hands go up to her chest, holding her heart. 

"It wasn't true" She breaths out, almost a whisper. I nod and she runs her hands down her face. She stands up and hugs me tighter than she ever has. I hug her back like my life counts on it. 

She stays silent for a moment before she starts sobbing gently. My hand rubs her back up and down, trying to calm her down. 

She pulls away quickly and just looks at me. Her cheeks are red with tears still falling out of her eyes.

"Conner" I go to pull her in for another hug but she backs away from me. "I asked for a divorce, I got with another guy, I called you some mean things because I thought you cheated but you never did. I hurt you." She sobs. "I hurt you Mateo" She says it again. 

"No you didn't, I know you don't mean any of those things. You didn't hurt me Conner" I reassure her. 

"Your just saying that to not hurt my feelings" She walks towards the door, years still pouring down her face. "I am so sorry Mateo, you didn't deserve all of that" She says before walking out the door. 

I look at the door before walking towards it. "Let her clam down, if you go after her right now it would overwhelm her. She needs time to calm down" Gabbie says, stopping me from walking out the door. 

She's right, she needs her time.
