Jin's Pov

My chest tightened for a few seconds, the numbness lingering. "What do you mean, her parents have already passed?"

"They passed away years ago due to an accident that took place near Gwangju. Rui has been alone for all this time."

"But... but that's impossible! How is that possible? She's not legal yet to live on her own." I exclaimed.

"She's the daughter of former CEO Choi of Yiliang company."

The daughter of former CEO Choi?

"But isn't Yiliang company handled by Madame Kim?" I asked.

"Yes, it has been taken over by Madame Kim since then. Why do you ask? You already know this Jin," Namjoon reminded.

If Rui is the daughter of former CEO Choi and Yiliang company is now taken over by Madame Kim, so then does that mean that Madame Kim has been taking care of Rui this whole time?

I'm going to have to look more into this later.

"Okay, thanks for letting me know," I answered before I hung up the call.

I left the bathroom and walked over to Taehyung who was still lying unconscious. His breathing was slow and steady as his chest heaved up and down.

I sat back down on the leather couch and fidgeted with my fingers.

This has gotten more complicated than it was before.

Jungkook's Pov

"Jungkook, my name is Jeon Jungkook," I smiled brightly, holding my hand towards her to shake.

"Jungkook... Jeon Jungkook..." she mumbled quietly to herself before slowly lifting her hand to shake mine while her eyes were staring down at her lap.

"That's right! That's me," I let out a small laugh. Awkwardly enough, I didn't know what else to say to her until she broke the tension between the both of us.

"And who are you? Jungkook?" her eyes finally meeting mine. They were filled with confusion as if she was lost.

I wasn't surprised.

"I'm..." I struggled to utter a word, the urge of letting my tears fall was held back by her presence, "...an old friend."

"Then... what's my name?" she asked.

"Rui, Choi Rui," I answered.

"Choi Rui, Choi Rui..." she recited, "Huh... that's a pretty name.  I like it." She gave me a soft smile with her eyes turning into crescents.

I let out a sigh, looking back to what happened when I entered her room last night. She had woken up shortly before I left to return to my room. As far as I knew, Jin and the others didn't know about her finally coming conscious besides me. I'm going to have to report this to them right now.

"I'm going to bring a couple of my friends to come and see you. They're also your friends too. I'll be back, okay?" I said.

"Other friends?" she questioned.

"Yup, they'll be really happy to see that you're awake once I tell them!"

She nodded her head slowly before turning her attention outside.

I slightly nodded my head in reply before rolling out of the room with my wheelchair, closing the door behind me when I was finally out. Rushing quickly to my room, I shut the door tightly and locked it.

As soon as I did, my tears didn't waste any time streaming down my flushed cheeks. I covered my face and sobbed heavily, my voice breaking the silence with the frustration and sadness that overcame me. My thoughts and feelings clashed in unison with one another.

It felt suffocating.

Rui doesn't remember us anymore... Rui doesn't remember me anymore... I want Rui back...

I continued to cry until my eyes were all puffed up. The heavy burden on my chest began to build upon itself.

I can't recognize you anymore, Rui.

And neither can you recognize me.
