Rui's Pov
"Are you curious as to know what's going on in my head?"
I turned to look at Taehyung who was looking off into the nonexistent distance of the greenhouse. "What is going on in your head, Kim Taehyung?" I asked curiously, almost regretting my decision.
"Well, lately I've been thinking about the both of us and what the future will bring. If I were being honest, I'm a bit afraid," he said as he held my hand tighter in search of comfort.
We were sitting near the trunk of the cherry blossom tree as its petals flew down to us gently, listening to the soft stream flow by with Koi fish swimming playfully.
"And why would you be afraid?"
"Because if all the good things happen to me now, all the bad things will happen sooner or later," he said as he held me closer, "And I just hope that you're not a part of it. Ever."
"You say that now, but then you and I both know that we can't control what happens. It's out of our hands," I said.
He sighs. "I'm just afraid that I might lose you someday. I don't know how, I don't know when, but all I know is that I want to spend all the time that I can with you with no regret. This will make me the happiest person ever," he said with a soft smile, closing his eyes and leaned his head to the side with mine.
"Do you want to know what I've been thinking? You asked this morning, but I never got to tell you."
"That's because you ignored me as soon as I asked," he chuckled softly.
"Well, I've been thinking about my parents. It's been a while since I last saw them. I miss them so much and I really want to go back to see them someday, but here I am. Still in Seoul," I said, looking at the stream that was surrounded by flowers that hung high and low around the small bridge.
"You miss your parents?" he asked, turning his gaze in my direction.
I turned to look at him, his eyes already waiting for me to give him an answer, "It may not seem like I don't have any regrets about leaving them, but then I do. I just don't want to admit it," I said before looking back down, playing with my fingers.
"Why not just admit it then?" he asked confusingly.
"Are we really going to have this conversation right now?" I raised a brow.
Taehyung raised his hands in surrender, "I'm just saying, but really though, I'm curious."
"Curiosity killed the cat, you know."
"But knowledge was what brought him back, you know," he laughed before playfully poking my nose. "Rui, I am curious about you. Everything about you. I want to know what you've been up to, what you like and don't like, your little habits, and you want to know why?" he said before leaning towards me as I leaned back in return, "Actually, you know what? No, I don't want to know everything about you."
I screwed my eyes in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that instead of knowing you in a snap, I want to get to know the real you through, what do you call them? Experiences," he said with a look of mischief in his eyes. "Of course, things like this take time. And baby, I have all the time in the world to do so," he said in a deep voice before biting his bottom lip as he stared deeply into me.
"Nice try, mister, but back off," I said before pushing him slowly off of me before getting up and leaving.
"Hey, you know that I was just kidding, right?" he laughed before getting up and following me through the door that led us upstairs.
"Uhm, yeah, not so sure about that but I'll pretend that that was the case," I said back in a sarcastic tone.
If there was another thing that I learned about Taehyung it was that he was a nosy son of a-
"Dog! Our dog is here!" Taehyung exclaimed excitedly before running past me upstairs and straight to the door.
Wondering in curiosity, I jogged up the stairs and closed the door behind me before walking towards Taehyung who had his back facing me with his head bent down as if he was looking at something.
"Hey, what are you looking at-"
Before I could say another word, Taehyung turned around with the biggest smile on his face while he looked down to see the small Pomeranian held gently in his large hands, its head sticking out to observe its new home.
"It's okay, this is your new home now," Taehyung said before looking at me, "And that's your new owner. You'll love her just as much as you love me," Taehyung smiled before kissing its head.
"So where did the dog appear from again?"
"Oh, Yeontan? My grandma sent him to me because she had important matters that she had to occupy herself with, and so she sent him to live with me. I also thought that it would be a good idea if Yeontan also got to know you too." He smiled before letting the pup down, his little legs running towards me before circling me with his tongue sticking out.
"Aren't you the most adorable thing," I laughed, petting his head.
Taehyung cleared his throat, "Although it's summer break, I will have to attend a business meeting with my grandma tomorrow. I won't be gone for long though, I'll come back as soon as I can."
"Uh-huh..." I replied without looking at him, my only focus on the adorable fluff ball who had the intention to keep my attention all to himself.
Taehyung cleared his voice once more before tapping my shoulder but was starting to get fed up when I didn't respond.
I immediately broke out from my distraction when I felt myself being pulled up by Taehyung, suddenly holding me close to him with his arm around my waist. "Is this really necessary?" I asked.
"What else were you expecting me to do to get your attention? Kiss you? 'Cause if tapping you and clearing my throat to get your attention wasn't enough then that leaves me no choice but to kiss you."
"Okay, now you're just being cliche," I mumbled before burying my face into his chest to avoid his lips from colliding with mine.
I heard Taehyung scoff in disbelief, "You're really going to do this to me right now?"
"Yup," I said, popping the p at the end.
I heard him sigh before he pulled himself away from me. "I know it's going to be two whole days that I will be leaving you alone. Will you be alright?" he said, his hand caressing the side of my face.
"I'll be alright, as long as you have faith in me. Besides, I have this fluff ball with me. He'll keep me company." I smiled.
Taehyung smiled back and kissed my forehead, his arms bringing me into a warm hug, "I know I can always count on you..."
My arms slowly wrapped around his waist as we both stood there in silence enjoying each other's presence, until I spotted at the corner of my eye, the security lock that was installed underneath the doorknob.
I will escape, no matter what.
