Author's Pov

Pacing back and forth, Namjoon couldn't help but feel nervous about what V had told him and the rest of Bangtan earlier before school about his plan. He couldn't help but feel nervous for Rui when V mentioned drugging her.

Sure, he was used to doing the dirty work to protect V, as well as the other members, but when it came to his other friends, he couldn't help but feel his chest clench in guilt.

"I can't believe I witnessed her getting intoxicated like that at lunch... I feel so guilty..." Namjoon said before sitting down, massaging his temples. "We should have stopped her..."

"Even if we did, we don't have the right to do so," Jimin said to him as he walked over and rubbed Namjoon's back in a comforting manner.

"Without V's order, we are to not interfere with the things that he does unless he wants us to get involved. It's the way it is," Jungkook said looking down, fidgeting with his fingers while sitting up on his hospital bed. "There's a reason why he didn't want us to get involved. It's because he knew we couldn't do something like that to her. After all, she's our friend. That's why he wanted you guys to leave before she could get a hold of you all."

Hoseok shifted from his place, sat next to Namjoon, and patted his shoulder. "Hey, don't feel so guilty about it, okay? It wasn't your fault. What's done is done now."

"How can I not feel guilty?" Namjoon stood up and looked at Hoseok, "How could I just sit there and not do anything? She was intoxicated, Hoseok. I don't even know why he decided to use any drug at all!" Namjoon frustratingly let out before breathing in and exhaling, trying to calm himself.

"Rui is safe. It's not too serious to the point where we have to bring out the antidote," Yoongi reassured.

Everyone sighed in relief before Namjoon interrupted, "Well that doesn't make it any different. She still suffered from its effects."

"I can only imagine how she'll react after she finds out about everything. What if she blames us for not being there for her?" Hoseok sighed.

"We all took an oath, so let's keep it that way."

Everyone turned to look at Jin who had his back facing the others as he looked out the window with his hands in his pockets. "Our families have worked under the Kims for generations now, and we all made an oath to always obey and protect the Kim family. We can't do anything even if we wanted to," Jin said. "As much as I am worried about Rui like you guys, my responsibility is to be the bigger person and guide you guys through the thick and thin in these situations. Let's not forget our place," he said firmly.

Everyone gave him a small nod before discussing something else.

Jin's eyes averted to the full moon that shined brightly in the midnight sky before closing his eyes, his heart aching in guilt and pity, "I'm sorry, Rui."

Rui's Pov

Slowly coming to my conscious state now, I moved around in the bed from discomfort. I felt someone holding my hand and soothed it, their attempt to give me warmth and comfort.

I slowly opened my eyes with my vision still hazy before blinking a few times to make everything clear in my view. As I observed the place, I realized that I was still in the same room that I had woken up in before the chaos with V.

V...

V.

I quickly looked to my side to see him holding my hand to his cheek, his dried tears still visible on his cheeks and his eyes red from crying and lack of sleep.

"You're awake! You're awake! Thank goodness..." he said while smiling in relief, his tears of happiness starting to run down his cheeks.

I quickly snatched my hand away from him and scooted back away as far as I could out of fear. He watched me in sadness, witnessing the fear that was written all over my face.

"R-Rui..." he stammered, climbing on the bed to get closer to me.

"Get away from me... you're a monster... a monster!" I cried out.

"R-Rui... don't do this to me... please..." V pleaded before quickly lunging towards me, cupping my face with his large hands, "Don't do this to me, Rui. Don't push me away. Don't say those words to me. Don't act this way towards me, Rui. Please..." he desperately cried before leaning his forehead against mine.

I held his wrists tightly before forcibly moving them away from me. I quickly got off the bed and made a run for it to the doors trying to force them open, but it was no use.

The doors were still locked.

Denying my reality, I still kept on making my useless attempts to open the door with V watching me from the bed.

He heaved a sigh before slowly walking toward my struggling presence. I looked back to see him coming closer to me. My anxiety and my adrenaline began to increase for desperate escape from the man in front of me.

I turned my head back to look at both the doorknobs and used more force this time to open them, but they still didn't open.

Why the hell are you not opening for me during emergencies like this you stupid doors?!

While my focus was completely on trying to accomplish my escape, I didn't notice that V was behind me. He waited, waited, and waited for me to be done with my stubbornness because he knew that the doors would not open unless he opened them with the keys that he held tightly close to him.

As seconds became minutes, and minutes became hours, my energy was now completely drained at this point. Leaning on the doors, I began to form my hands into fists, hitting the doors weakly.

I felt V's hands gently snaking their way around my waist and hugged me from behind, his chin on my shoulder. "Are you done now?" he asked me softly.

I silently wept in defeat.

My tears were the only response I was able to give to him at that moment.
