December 2018 (present day)

"Angel c'mon it'll fun." Jules pleaded with her best friend, "Just one night at the bar with the girls, you never come out with me because you're always painting at home. I promise it'll be fun."

They met in elementary school, a group of kids were always picking for Angel on her frizzy hair. Making fun of her freckles and the fact that one of her eye's was two different colors, spilt blue and brown right down the middle.

Jules went up to all of them, pushing them on their asses and telling them that if they ever messed with Angel again they would have to go through her.

 After that, they were inseparable.

They were both 26 now, Angel was an artist. She worked at a small studio downtown, selling the pieces that she worked on day in and out and also taught painting classes twice a week to beginners.

It didn't bring in much money, but she was able to pay her rent and get a few groceries here and there and that was all that mattered to her.

Jules was the more logical out of the two of them, she worked for a paralegal office and was going through the steps of getting into law school.

It wasn't often that the two of them had nights completely off together, so Angel wasn't surprised that Jules was trying to bring her out for a night out on the town.

"That bar is scary Jules." she mumbled, not looking up from the canvas that she was currently working on for a client.

She didn't often ask questions when it came to commissions, unless they were completely wild and almost unobtainable.

The one she was currently working on was a portrait of an elderly ladies cat, painted like a 1800's king.

Angel had to hold back a laugh when she had gotten the request, it was sweet but she was curious on what the interior design of this womans house looked like in order for this to fit in anywhere.

"No because what the actual fuck are you painting right now?" Jules asked snickering as she sat down next to her friend, "Is that a cat?"

Angel nodded, smirking as she dipped her paint brush into the same orange color she had been staring at for entirely too long trying to perfect the fur.

"Sure is a cat, I'm sure it'll be helpful to identify animals when you become a lawyer." she replied playfully, nudging Jules shoulder lightly.

"Okay smart ass relax. Why does the cat look like Marie Antoinette?" she asked, tilting her head to the side getting a good look at the painting in full.

Angel let out a soft laugh before placing her paintbrush done, "Honestly? I have no fucking clue. It's just what the woman wanted for some reason."

"Okay so I've watched you paint for long enough to know that you need to wait for that first layer to dry before you add anything, so come on lets go out. I'll buy you a drink, it's really safe there." Jules says, grabbing Angel's hand dragging her away from her easel.

"Come on it's Angie's birthday, she would be so excited to see you." Jules added in, bringing Angel into her bedroom gently pushing her onto her bed and opening up her closet doors.
