Awsten couldn't sleep, not that this was new for him but he wasn't used to sharing his bed with anyone which added to the issue.
Angel had fallen asleep almost immediately after closing her eyes and he didn't know if this was how she always slept or if the exhaustion of the night that they had just hit her in full force.
He had appreciated the fact that she didn't move at all in her sleep, what he didn't know was that Angel told herself once she got comfortable that she was just going to stay in that one position.
She didn't want to make him uncomfortable if she had accidentally drifted over towards where he was laying, so she stayed curled up in a little ball as far away from him as possible.
Either way, he selfishly was thankful for the fact that she was asleep so soundly. He liked her more when she was quiet, and in the hours that she was awake it was just endless questions at all times.
He didn't think he would ever get used to how many questions she asked, or how when she got nervous she would make stupid jokes, and off handed comments in hope it would get him to laugh.
Annoying enough he almost found it endearing.
The sun was starting to rise at this point, and he knew that he wasn't going to be getting any sleep so it was useless to even try. Awsten wondered how he would be able to sneak out of bed without disturbing her or waking her up, as much as he wanted his own space back. He knew that she needed sleep.
He slid out leg out of bed, glancing back at her to make sure that she was still sleeping and when he realized that she wasn't stirring whatsoever he rolled the rest of the way out pulling the covers back up so that Angel was fully covered.
He tip toed his way over to the door, opening it as slowly as possible breathing a sigh of relief when he closed it without a word from her.
"Is there a reason why there's a girl in your bed, and you're sneaking out of your own bedroom like you're about to do the walk of shame?" a familiar voice asked him from the barstools in his kitchen.
He jumped as he turned around, finding his sister smiling brightly. "Laura what the fuck." he replied breathlessly, confused as to why she was in his apartment, when she got there, and wondering how he was going to explain who Angel was. "You would think that you would know better than to break into my apartment."
Laura thought for a minute, tapping her finger on her chin like she was deep in thought. "I don't think it can be considered breaking in if I have a key." she replied stubbornly.
Awsten groaned as he made his way over to her, pulling her in for a tight hug. He never turned down the chance to see his sister, she was all he had left but he wasn't used to surprise visits from her when she went to school so far away.
"I just had to explain to Otto the other day that key or not you shouldn't let yourself into someone's house, I feel like a broken record repeating myself right now." he said softly laughing as he pulled back and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"You okay? I wasn't expecting you, you always call first or at least text. It's also alarmingly early right now, what's going on?" he asked, his voice full of concern.
Laura rolled her eyes as she waved him off. "You don't have to play protective big brother right now it's okay, I just wanted to come and visit. I didn't realize you would have company. Long night?" she asked him smirking.
