it has been so long since I have written anything but i have had so many people commenting on this story, so here goes nothing
Awsten wasn't frustrated that his sister showed up, at least he didn't think he was.
After seeing the stress and panic that Angel had earlier that morning at the thought of getting caught by what she thought was his girlfriend, he almost felt bad for her.
The monthly event was never any easier to swallow for him, Geoff, or Otto even after the years that they had been attending. He couldn't imagine how Angel had been feeling after witnessing the brutal fight that took place.
"Hello, you still here on planet earth?" Laura said as she snapped in front of his face, sitting across from him on the couch. "What is going on inside of that head of yours right now?"
Awsten pinched the bridge of his nose exhaling, "There's nothing going on in my head Laur, you just showed up at a really inconveient time theres a lot going on is all" he admitted honestly.
She nodded her head slightly, worried that there had been something more going on that Awsten hadn't told her about, in the past she always had to force him to update her on the things that were happening. She thinks he still saw her as the scared little kid on the night that their parents died.
"There's just some sketchy shit happening underground Laur, drops not happening where they're supposed to and the wrong amounts of money-" he started to explain lightly as his sister cut him off.
"This doesn't have to do with that skank Seanna does it?" she asked aggressively.
This was the second time in the last few weeks that Awsten's ex had been brought up, that's two more times than he had ever wanted to think about her ever again.
After that fateful night he swore to himself that he would never get into a relationship, not because he didn't want to in fact as a child he always said he wanted to get married and have kids of his own. But as he grew older he realized that love can be worse than being alone.
Until he met her, he didn't like to think about the details of their relationship due to the fact that none of it was real.
When they had first met she was kind, and understanding, she was the only person who knew about what happened to his parents completely. Not even the guys knew exactly what had happened, Awsten didn't like to tell people because he found that without fail, even if they promised they always looked at him differently afterwards as if he was damaged goods.
When Seanna found out, she didn't look at him any different or treat him any differently.
Until he found out that she had been a rat all along, the only reason why she ever dated him was to get intel on his group and what the underground was doing, she worked right along side Richard, Clayton, Ian and Josh. The very same men who could and would hurt Angel in a heartbeat if they found out the truth.
"She very well could be." Awsten answered honestly, "but to be honest we really don't have any idea what is causing all of this, and now adding in the fact that we have to protect Angel it's been an all hands on deck situation."
"How exactly did she get involved with this?" Laura asked carefully, not wanting to upset him anymore than he already was, it worried her to see Awsten's emotions fully on display on his face like they were now. It wasn't often she saw him like this.
"Long story short she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I had to call her my girlfriend so that she would be protected." he started, "I haven't exactly told her everything yet." he admits softly, regret lacing his tone.
Laura knew it wasn't her place to comment, she knew everything that her brother had been through in the last few years and how it plagued him more than he let on to anyone around him. But she also couldn't stand by and watch him blame himself for more things that had been entirely out of his control.
"You should tell her." Laura said calmly, "Everything."
