My Enemy? (O/C x Jinx)

Chapter 12

A few months go by, relations between Piltover and Zaun have eased, especially with Echo at the helm leading Zaun. The chem barons have basically left without a trace once Echo started cracking down on them and small time gangs spring up every now and then. As Echo walked the streets of Zaun and greeting those he passed by, a familiar figure was in the distance ahead of him. He took a turn into an alleyway just as they had turned around.

"That was too close." Echo sighed as he leaned against the building.

"What was?" Jinx asked causing him to jump 2 feet in the air from the shock.

"Damn it, Bluejay." Echo said once he got all of his breath back.

"It's just funny when I get you to jump like that." Jinx said after she was finished laughing.

"I'm gonna get you myself one day." Echo said as he pulled her into a hug.

The figure walked by the alleyway they were in but didn't notice him when they looked down at the two of them since his back was turned.

After the figure walked by Echo continued his walk, now with Jinx.

"Where you going?" Jinx asked him poking his arm.

"Might explore Piltover for old times sake." Echo said ignoring her poking as they continued walking.

"Really now? It's not about what just happened back there with that girl?" Jinx asked with curiosity in her voice.

"Fine, let's go back to The Last Drop then." Echo said putting his arm around her as they walked.

As they walked the figure from earlier was watching them, a tear rolling down her cheeks.

When they arrived inside The Last Drop every patron cheered, Echo bowed and caused some laughter from a few.

"Echo, got a minute?" A man he knew asked him as he went by.

"Is it important?" Echo responded as he stopped and looked at the man.

"In a way, yeah." The man said quickly, catching a look from a glaring Jinx.

"Fine. You gonna be ok by yourself for a few?" Echo sighed and looked at Jinx.

"Don't take too long or I might blow up the office." Jinx said laughing as she walked away from him.

Echo watched her walk up the stairs before he sat across from the man and before the man said "There's some girl with scarlet hair asking around for you."

"I figured, saw someone who looked like her earlier." Echo sighed in frustration.

"What do you want us to do?" The man asked him before motioning towards his knife.

"Nothing, Charles. Just observe and report." Echo said before getting up and walking towards the office.

He opened the door, walked inside, shutting it behind him afterwards, and walked to the chair to sit down.

"Why the long face?" He heard Jinx ask as she jumped down.

"The past brought themselves back up." He sighed as he looked out the window.

"That girl from earlier?" Jinx asked walking over to him.

"Bingo." Is all Echo could say before he was pulled into a hug by her.

He stayed quiet and in thought as the two of them sat there with the only noise coming from below.

"I'm not leaving here or you, not again." Echo said after what felt like an eternity.

Jinx stayed quiet because she knew he wasn't lying to her because she knew the signs of when he was lying, but at the same time she just couldn't believe his words.
