In Piltover it's been months since Echo's disappearance, Vi hasn't given up on Echo like Caitlyn wishes she would and focus on taking down the chem barons that have replaced him. She's been asking around using Kaylin's description and found a spot some of her guys hangout at, she cracks her fists before placing on her gauntlets and walking inside.
Jinx on the other hand is nearing her minds end, she can't help but think that she's been abandoned once again by someone close to her and who she loved. She looks at Fishbones and the gauntlets she's been working on for Echo before picking up Fishbones and leaving.
Back on Ionia Echo doesn't know how long he's been gone, he thinks it's only been a week or two since his kidnapping. He stares out at the ocean each night hoping he sees an airship from Piltover come flying to rescue him.
"Guess she was right. It's only been two weeks since I've been here and they've already forgotten about me." Echo sighs as he still looks over the ocean in front of him.
"It's actually been more on the verge of five months, Echo." Akali says as she walks up from behind him and sits next to him.
"There's no way it's been five months. If that's the case then I myself am a monster I've created, I abandoned Kaylin and in her vengeance she's taken me away from someone I actually cared about and in turn has probably created a monster out of her." He said as tears began to fall from his eyes and he placed his head in his hands.
Akali was surprised by this side of him. Though she only knew him a week, she thought she had him figured out and that this side wasn't in him at all.
"You're no monster, Echo. You're a fighter." Akali said as she pulled him into a sympathetic hug.
"The ironic part is I've tried to put my fighting past behind me and look where it got me, fighting again." Echo jokingly said when he was done crying.
"They'll come. We both know it." Akali said as she broke the hug and stood up. "Now, let's go get some sleep. You especially."
Echo let out a chuckle at the last sentence before standing up himself and following her as she started walking away. His stomach grumbled as they walked, he pulled out some berries he had picked earlier and snacked on them.
"Not gonna share?" Akali sarcastically asked with a slight chuckle.
"Nah." Echo simply said between bites.
Once they got back to where Echo thought was a good hideout, he went to his makeshift "bed" and lied down.
"Son, come here." Echo heard his father say, his real father.
"What's wrong dad?" Echo asked him as he walked towards his father.
"No matter what happens, remember we'll always love you." His mother said as she hugged him tightly.
"I want you to run far away from here and don't look back." His father said as he placed a hand on Echo's shoulder and bending to his height.
"Why?" Echo asked confused.
"Just run." His father said before shoving him out of the door.
Echo did as he was told by his father and ran, even when he heard his parents screams. He ran for what felt like miles until he stopped and looked back, he saw his home on fire and dropped to his knees.
Echo ran back but he was too late, his home was just a smoking pile of rubble by the time he got back. He heard someone approaching and prepared to fight them.
"Echo, what happened here?" The man he asked as he approached.
Echo realized who the man was, it was Vander. Echo ran towards him and hugged him with tears and anger in his hazel eyes, this caught Vander off guard. Vander pieced together what happened to the boy's parents but couldn't find Echo's older brother's remains in the rubble when he came back after taking Echo to The Last Drop.
