Echo was loaded onto the airship and was immediately rushed to a doctor on board that did what he could do to help him. The doctor had stopped the bleeding, both internally and externally, as the boy's heart rate steadied on the monitor next to the bed. Jinx stayed by his side from Ionia and as they entered Piltover.
Echo didn't wake up not because he didn't want to but he was dealing with some inner problems of his own.
"Give up and let go, boy." Silco said as he appeared and disappeared.
"Come on, kiddo, they both need you." Vander said as he appeared.
"I know, I can't help but feel I've let them both down, especially her." Echo said avoiding Vander's gaze.
"You were never the one to make excuses, son. You've got this." Vander said as he placed his hand on Echo's shoulder and disappearing.
Echo shot awake and looked down to see blue hair next to his side who was still asleep. He sighed as he looked at his arm and the ouroboros tattoo that reminds him of that night, all these close calls has him really thinking the tattoo is somehow keeping him going.
He looks at the doorway and sees Vi standing there with a smile on her face.
"Thought we'd lost you." She says as she walks on the opposite side of the bed.
"Thought I lost myself there too, honestly." He says with a slight sigh.
"What's your plan now? Chem barons have taken back control of Zaun." Vi tells him which brings a look of sadness to his face.
"Guess start back over at square one and kick them out again." He says with a slight chuckle.
Echo gently taps Jinx's shoulder to wake her up, she shrugs it off the first time until he does it one more time. She balled up a fist and it was about to make contact until she saw who it was that woke her up.
"Good morning to you too." Echo says as she jumps on him.
"I'll let you two love birds have your alone time." Vi says as she gets up and walks out.
After Vi closes the door behind her Echo looks back at Jinx with a hint of regret in his eyes.
"I'm sorry about that. I guess I should've do-" Echo started before being interrupted by a kiss from Jinx. "I'll take that as a 'I forgive you' and I'll shut up."
Jinx caught him up on everything that's happened since his disappearance and on the way back to Piltover.
"I did it again." Echo sighed.
"What?" Jinx asked confused.
"Made you cry again. This the third or fourth time now, right?" He said as he placed his head against hers.
"Don't know, never kept count." She said with a laugh.
"Mind if I get up now?" He asked with a chuckle.
"But I was starting to like this." She pouted as they both sat there and she placed her head against his chest.
"Fine, five more minutes." Echo said as he laid back against the wall.
Five minutes went by just as fast as he had said it. He tapped her shoulder and she groaned as she reluctantly got up. Echo followed after her and made his way to the bathroom to get a shower. He turned on the water as he looked at himself in the mirror, as he got in the shower he noticed instead of the purple eyes that replaced his once hazel color were now pink again, he shook his head just ignoring it as he let the warm water run over him.
Once he was done he turned off the water and stepped out to dry. He heard a knock on the door as he was drying off, he put up his fists in response until he heard who it was speaking.
"Almost done?" He heard Jinx ask through the door.
"Yeah." Echo responded as he began drying off his body.
He finished drying off and put on some boxers and a pair of pants before opening the door and walking out of the bathroom.
"Hey, you remember when we met after all those years?" Echo asked as he sat down on the side of the bed and catching Jinx off guard.
"Yeah and how I saved your butt after you decided to jump off a roof into another building." Jinx said as she sat next to him and both she and him laughed at the last part.
"That wasn't my brightest moment, I never learn." He said after he finished laughing.
"So, what's your big plan now that you're back?" She asked as she laid her head on his shoulder.
"I want to say go and kick all the chem barons back out like I did before, but I'd be placing a bigger target on my back." He said with a sigh.
"So you're just going to lie low?" She asked looking at him.
"I guess so, gives me some spare time with you. After a while I'll pop back up in the fights to give them a good freight." He said with a smile forming on his lips.
The two sat there against each other in silence until a doctor walked in with a look of shock aimed at Echo as he dropped the clipboard in his hands.
"Eh, what's up doc?" Echo asked as he cracked a smile.
"You're actually awake." The doctor said astonished.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Echo asked with a look of confusion that replaced the smile.
"We actually can't answer that because we don't know." The doctor said as he left the room.
"Guess I'm free to go. Want to make up for some lost time, Bluejay?" Echo said as he picked her up and jumped out the open window.
He laughed as he landed on a roof below as he remembered the last time he did that, it didn't go so well for him.
"You're improving, didn't actually go through it this time." Jinx said as she began laughing.
"Ha ha ha." Echo sarcastically said before running from rooftop to rooftop.
They landed on one of the bridges connecting Piltover to Zaun and looked across to the other side. Echo would be lying if he didn't say he kind of didn't miss Zaun, but it was home even if it's gotten worse since he left.
"You ready?" He asked Jinx as he looked at her, she nodded before he started walking towards Zaun.
