Echo snaps his eyes open as he looks around the familiar hospital room. He feels himself to make sure that he's alive and in his body. He feels stinging in his side and arm as he remembers what happened.
He notices that he's alone in the room and sighs to himself. Just then he hears the door open and sees red hair, his heart begins beating faster with every second until he sees the figure is Katarina.
The looks on both of their faces are of shock, Katarina's because they never expected him to wake up and Echo's because she had flowers in her hand. He looks to the opposite side of him and sees tons more.
"Was I dead?" Echo asks with a blank expression.
"In a way. But you may want to go see her when you get out of here." Katarina said hinting towards Jinx.
"Shit." He mutters to himself seeing Katarina walk and sit at his side.
"I explained everything to her when she was calm and she understood." She said taking his hand and continuing "I see she cares deeply for you."
"Yeah, it's a shame I just can't keep my word like I used to be able to." He said as he hung his head in defeat.
"Don't beat yourself up, Echo. This was out of your control." She said standing up and patting his back.
"In a way you aren't wrong." He sighs as he sees her standing at the door.
"I'll catch you later, Ghost." She said as she closed the door.
Echo laid back on the bed as he was once again left alone and with the one thing he's dreaded most recently, his thoughts. His mind began to wander off before hearing the door open again and easing his mind. He plays asleep as he hears the footsteps walk over towards him.
"I'm sorry, Echo." The female says as she wipes a tear from her eyes before continuing "If I would've known that something like this would've happened I wouldn't have brought you to see them."
"Vi, I'm alright. You already know how hard I am to kill." Echo says as he opens his eyes and faces her.
"How much did you hear?" Vi asks slightly embarrassed.
"All of it." Echo said with a grin. "I just woke up not too long ago."
"And when do you plan on busting out?" She asks with a smile.
"Probably within the next few hours." He says with a laugh.
"Don't forget about her." She says as she stands up and walks to the door.
"Believe me I haven't forgotten one bit and I know how to make it up to her." He says with a wink as Vi waved goodbye.
Echo sits up before letting his legs hang off the bed and hit the floor beneath him. He takes a breath as he stands up and walks over to the window seeing the night sky. He thinks for a moment before looking at the surrounding buildings before taking a few steps back and a deep breath as he charges towards the window. He crashes through it, pieces of the glass cutting him on his was out, as he pulls himself towards the closest building. He rolls to help break his fall as he stops near the edge of the roof.
"Shit that was too close." Echo says to himself as he looks down.
Echo catches his breath before leaping to a building another few feet away from him and landing flawlessly on it. He looks over the edge and sees he's close to the waters edge, he sits and thinks if it's worth being drenched but it gets him back faster, so he jumps off the roof and mere seconds go by before he feels the coldness of the water sending shockwaves through his nerves. He swims to the shoreline before walking through the streets on the opposite side of the bridge. He sees that fateful day where they had to fight to get back home and Powder had tossed the loot they stole in the water to save herself. He boards an elevator and pulls the lever to take him down, he sees a flashback of when he and Milo got into it about the loot situation which causes him to slightly chuckle.
Echo steps off the elevator and begins walking to Jinx's cave. He slowly walks down so if she's sleeping he doesn't disrupt her, you know because he likes breathing. As he gets down to her he sees his items strewn about and that she's wearing his jacket from that night he was shot.
He looks at her then decides to walk over to the couch. He sits and ponders on what he should do, that was until he began to yawn.
"What the hell?" Echo quietly questioned himself.
Another yawn escaped his lips so he decided to lay down on the couch, he was surprised neither his head nor his feet hung over the armrests as he did so.
Powder is struggling to hang on to the pipe as the enforcer slowly walks below her, shining his light in every direction but up. The rest of the group is scattered around the ceiling, except Echo isn't there. There's a boy with red hair and green eyes in his place near Powder.
"What the fuck, shouldn't I be there?" Echo questions himself when he sees the boy.
Powder's grip begins to loosen and loosen, the unknown boy makes an attempt to grab her but he's too late. Her loud thud alerts the enforcer and he runs over and grabs the girl as she struggles to get out of his grasp. When they leave the group hears Marcus above them laugh.
"So there was one down there, take her in." Marcus says as Vander's expression changed from calm to pissed.
As the group drop down Vander comes running down stairs and sees Vi trying to lunge and the unknown boy.
"Damn it, Red, why couldn't you have grabbed her?" Vi yells at the boy while being held back by Claggor.
"I tried, Vi." Red says as he sulks towards his bed.
"Calm down, Vi." Claggor says in an attempt to calm the enraged girl in his arms.
"Why don't you run off like you used to, you'd be doing us a favor!" Vi yells at Red as he sits on his bed.
"Vi, stop." Vander said before noticing his son packing a bag. "Where do you think you're going?"
"Away, since I can tell I'm not wanted here anymore for one accidental screw up." Red says as he walks past his father. "I'll come back, dad, don't know when."
Vander was hurt by his son leaving, Vi realized what she'd done as Claggor let her go and she chased after Red but the boy was already gone.
Echo woke up confused and saw an astonished Jinx standing in front of him before jumping and landing on him.
"Missed you too, Bluejay." Echo said as he pulled her down onto him.
"We all thought you were dead." Jinx says as tears begin forming in her eyes.
"I did too, you can let everything out now if you want to." He says as he feels his shoulder becoming wet.
