Chapter thirteen ~ edited

I must have fallen asleep. It was almost sunrise. I walked over to my feed bucket. There was food in it but it was cold. I walked to my water bucket and drank a couple mouthfuls. Caleb walked up to my door.

"Hey girl." He said. I looked at him with water dripping from my muzzle. He chuckled softly and opened the door. He took the old bucket and replaced it with a new one. "You fell asleep last night and didn't have your dinner." He said. I didn't move. I stayed where I was. He sighed and walked over to me. "I know you don't want to be here. I know you want to be free."

I looked at him in the eyes. I moved my ears back and fourth. He chuckled and walked out of the stall. I walked up to the door and put my head out. I whinnied to him as he walked away.

"See you later girl." He called. I nodded my head, even though he couldn't see me. Just at that moment, Trent walked into the stable. As soon as I saw him, I stopped nodding my head, flattened my ears back and backed to the far end of my stall.

"Stupid horse." He said when he walked past my stall. I walked to the door and put my head over it.

"Stupid guy." I said, which comes out as a snort. He turned around and glared at me.

"Talking back to me horse?"

"So what if I am?" I snorted again, pawing the ground. He shook his head and walked off while cursing to himself. I heard something along the lines of 'I'm talking to a stupid and worthless horse...' I didn't bother listening to the rest. He went on for ages.

My stomach grumbled and I went to my feed bucket and started eating. Horse food not only smelled good but tasted good too.

I finished my breakfast and walked to the door. I put my head over and looked around at the other horses. There were at least twenty stalls and about fourteen had horses. I saw a couple horses from the herd.

"Is Midnight here? Does anyone know?" I asked, hoping someone would answer.

"He's in the round pen outside." Stride answered.

"Why isn't he in here?" I asked.

"Don't know."

"Ok." I stood at the door. There wasn't  anything to do. "It's boring in here."

"Caleb will come and put us in the paddock soon. Well I don't know about you new horses. If he doesn't then whinny and maybe he'll let you out." Stride explained. I thought about it. As Stride said, Caleb walked into the stable with a bunch of halters. One by one he took all the horses that were trained out to the paddock. Once he was finished, he walked back inside. I whinnied, making it sound as sad as I could make it. He stopped and looked at me.

"You wanna go outside?" He asked. I nodded my head. "I don't know girl." He said. I whinnied again. He smiled and walked off. He came back with a black rope halter and blue lead. "Are you going to be a good girl and let me put this on?" I nodded my head.

He opened the stall door and walked in. I let him put the halter on. I really wanted to go outside. He led me out and walked past the round pen. I saw Midnight and whinnied to him. He still looked sad. I tried to walk to him but my head was softly pulled back. I looked at Caleb and tried again. I yanked the lead and Caleb almost fell over. I laughed. I looked at Midnight again, hoping Caleb got what I was trying to say. He clicked to get me to walk on again. I stomped my foot and didn't move.

"Come on girl. You wanted to come out remember." He said. I snorted and looked Midnight yet again. "Ohhhhh. I get it now. You two friends?" Finally success! I nodded my head. He smirked. I stomped my foot again, just missing his foot by a couple centimeters. "Ay!"

He led me to the yard next to the round pen. He put me in and unclipped the lead, leaving my halter on.

"I'll get you later girl." He said, then walked off. I nickered and trotted over to Midnight.

"Hi." I said.

"Hey. We have to get out of here."

"Why?" I asked.

"Why? You seriously asking why?" Midnight asked, looking at me.

"Well yeah." Before he could say anything, Trent walked out of the stable with a whip, bridle and other things. I flattened my ears back when he approached Midnight and me.

"Relax you useless excuse for a horse. I'm not training you." He said with venom in his voice.

"Yeah well you're a useless excuse for anything." I said with equal venom as him. Sadly he couldn't understand me. It would be more fun that way.
