Chapter 31: Save Him

John

"I got my Diploma, guys! Oh my God!" John yelled, holding up the piece of paper that was equivalent to all his hard work in sixth form.

"Didn't we all?" Joshua said sarcastically.

"Stop being such a killjoy, Joshua!" John said, rolling his eyes.

"Are you boys ready for university?" Molly asked, Lestrade's mouth dropping when he saw her dress.

"'Course I am! And soon, I'll be the best goddammed Detective Inspector in Scotland Yard," Lestrade said, hugging Molly. "Plus, I'll have my awesome girlfriend by my side-most of the time, when you're not in the morgue."

Lestrade kissed her and John and Joshua looked away immediately.

"PDA, much?" Joshua asked, still not looking at the couple.

Lestrade forced them to look at him. "Yes. It's not a crime!" He said happily.

"Well, I still can't believe we're moving on to University!" Joshua said.

John's smile faded for a moment, his thoughts going back to Sherlock. Lestrade must have noticed, because he patted John's shoulder sympathetically.

"Hey, John? Is that your family over there?" Molly asked.

John looked at where Molly was pointing and smiled when he saw his parents walking towards him. But his smile fell when he saw his sister.

"What the hell are you doing here?" John hissed.

"I don't know? Seeing my baby brother graduate? What the hell am I supposed to do?" Harry shot back.

"I don't know! Not show up!" John exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air.

Harry seized John's wrist before he could walk away from her, and forced him to look at her.

"Look, I'm sorry. I was a huge jerk to do the coming out for you. You even lost your closest friends." John tensed and looked away.

"I can't do anything about that, because they're homophobic gits, but I'm your sister. I miss you a lot, John. We're family," Harry said.

John grudgingly looked at her, but a smile was threatening its way to his face.

"Fine. I forgive you," John said, a smile breaking his defences.

Harry smiled back and closed her brother in a huge bear hug. John was surprised but he gave in and hugged her too.

"I missed you too, Harry," John whispered.

"I know, kiddo. I know," Harry said. "Now, there's a girl calling you over. She looks pretty too, so good catch, John!"

Harry pushed him to the direction of the girl and John realised it was the girl from Moriarty's manor.

"John! Your friend is in danger," she said, dragging him to a corner. "Jim caught him-"

"I don't care, okay? Sherlock is none of my business anymore," John said. "I'm not going to save him."

"But John! He's in danger. Moriarty has a plan to get him." she said. "He's going to kill you, John. You are Sherlock's greatest weakness, since you are his only true friend. And if Moriarty succeeds in killing Sherlock, this country will break to shambles. His brother, Mycroft, will be a mess and Moriarty can attack. This isn't just about you and Sherlock. The country-and possibly the world, is at stake as well."

John felt sick. Why was he the one who could save Sherlock Holmes? He was nothing like the skilled boy. He was just plain John Watson, who played Rugby and wanted to be a Doctor. He was nothing special.

"Why can't Mycroft save him?" John asked. "I can't save him. Mycroft can."

She looked down. "Sherlock could very much escape if he wanted to. He just doesn't have a reason to do so," she whispered.

John looked down and fidgeted, his thoughts going to Sherlock, his friends, his family and university. What would he choose?

"Fine. I'm going to save Sherlock. How am I supposed to do that?" John said.

Mary made a face. "Sorry, John. This may hurt a lot." Suddenly, he felt her first collide with his face several times and a few kicks to his crotch. The pain soared through his body until he felt numb and darkness consumed him in its comforting realm.

But before he was completely out, he heard Mary whisper, "Sherlock won't fall if you're there."

a/n: Jesus that was hard. I have made my decision for the finally and it hurts my head and heart as much as my fingers hurt because of guitar playing :(

The next chapter is the last one and then there will be an epilogue and then nothing else more! There will be no sequel no spin off whatsoever-nothing.
