Chapter 18: The Moran

John

When a hostage, you'd expect brutal treatment and lots of threats. Never, ever, would you expect lunch for two.

"Would you like a cuppa, John?" Moriarty asked.

"No thanks. I'd rather die in a war," John answered.

"Oh, I knew that." Moriarty set the cup down and looked at John. "In fact, I know everything about you!"

"So you're a stalker?" John said.

"No, John. I'm much more than a mere stalker." Moriarty moved towards John, which made him shift in his seat uneasily.

Run, just run, John. Maybe you can get through that Sniper.

"Don't try running! Sebastian has a perfect shot!" Moriarty laughed. "Almost like Cupid."

"Exactly like Cupid." A blonde boy jumped off the second level, which was quite low. He walked next to Moriarty and shot the apple just an inch from John's face.

"I love it when you scare them!" Moriarty threw his head back and laughed like a maniac.

Sebastian looked at him, the expression on his face unreadable. John could only try to guess its meaning.

"Oh, and Moran?" Moriarty walked away. "Watch him for me. I have more clients to attend to."

The door was slammed and Sebastian looked at John unimpressed.

"So, you're Moriarty's official sniper?" Sebastian ignored him and sat down where Moriarty had sat.

"Just keep it down, okay? I only want some peace and quiet." Sebastian took off the gun strap and smiled at him.

"So, you're not really... evil?" John asked, shocked.

"Oh, no! I just do it for the money. Keeps the family going, you know?" Sebastian smiled. "My family isn't really rich. I have to do this," He gestured to his gun, grimacing, "so my sister can go to school."

"How about your parents?" John was definitely getting interested in this guy.

"They're dead. We're stowaways, me and my sister," Sebastian said. "We ran away from the foster house and Moriarty's family found us-"

"Where are they?" John interrupted.

"They're always going on business trips. It's probably why Jim is so psychotic and all." Sebastian said.

"But I'm grateful they took us in anyway," he continued. "They pay me to clean the kitchen and they take care of her. They've always wanted a daughter.

Moriarty got jealous and threatened me. If I don't do this, he'll kill me. I do it, of course-as long as I get the money."

John stared at the boy in front of him, wondering what he had had to go through for his sister.

"You know, you could just run away," John offered.

"What do you mean?" Sebastian asked.

"Sherlock Holmes' brother could help you. He's in the government and from what I heard, he's in a pretty high position."

"I don't know. Jim Moriarty would find a way to get to me and my sister." Sebastian took his gun and played with it.

"I know you're scared. But what if he could help you?" John said.

"I can't," Sebastian looked up and John realised that there was literally no hope in his eyes. "If my sister wasn't so frail, I would go with you. But she's sick. I just can't."

John looked at him sadly, praying the best for him. But suddenly, Sherlock appeared.

"Well, I wish you luck, mate." John stood up. "Because my ride just got here."

Sebastian stood up and grabbed his gun.

"Sorry, John. I can't let you go." Sebastian pointed the gun at Sherlock, who didn't flinch at all.

"Run, John!" John jumped on the table and punched Sebastian, feeling slightly guilty.

Sherlock grabbed John's hand and they ran towards the exit.

"Don't move or I'll shoot!" Sebastian yelled.

"Don't care!" Sherlock sang.

"I'm home!" A girl probably one year younger than John and Sherlock entered the house in a blissful reverie. It disappeared once she saw the scene before her.

"May?" Sebastian dropped his gun, looking at her, shocked and scared beyond belief.

John took the opportunity to run out of the house, shoving Sherlock into his Mercedes.

"What happened back there?" Sherlock asked.

"Sherlock, I have a favour to ask you," John said.

"Anything," Sherlock said.

"Ask Mycroft to save those two. Sebastian and May Moran," John said.

Sherlock looked at him incredulously, before nodding. "Okay."

A/N: I'm not sure if I'll go back to Sebastian and May but I have an idea. If I can fit it in the story, hell yeah I'll do it!
