Chapter 5: Preparations and the Dates

Sherlock

"How about this shirt?"

"No. In fact, don't wear a shirt at all. Just wear your jumper."

John glared at Sherlock before throwing the red shirt at him.

"How about you? Aren't you going to wear something?" John asked.

"Oh, of course not, John! I'm going bare naked to Lin, because as you see, I'm not dressed yet." Sherlock rolled his eyes. "No, I'm already dressed. Lin happens to like my purple shirt."

"Whatever," John went back to finding a suitable shirt for the Café.

"You could just wear this." Sherlock stood up and took a pale blue shirt and black slacks.

"Peter really likes your blue shirt. He would love it. And your hair." Sherlock began to mess up the well styled hair back to its natural state: messy and wind blown.

"Thanks." John fixed his hair a bit, making sure it wasn't that messy.

"Now could you help me? I really like Lin," Sherlock murmured. "She's really smart and all."

John smirked at his hopelessly lovestruck friend. It was almost sickening.

"Okay, I'll help you," John said. "Just... just be careful around Lin. Okay?"

"I will," Sherlock promised.

"Hi Sherlock." Sherlock's jaw almost dropped to the ground when he saw Lin wearing jeans instead of her usual skirt, a black shirt and her black hair in bun. She looked rather dashing in her natural look.

"Nice shirt." Lin took his hand in hers, grinning.

"Shall we go?" Sherlock offered her his arm.

"Of course." She held his arm and walked down the halls to the parking lot.

"Is that your car?" Lin gaped at the sleek black Mercedes in front of them, waiting for them to ride it.

"Yes. My family is quite rich and they gave this to me as a birthday present." Sherlock opened the door. "But that doesn't matter."

When they went in the car, Sherlock drove off to the nearest café. But there was silence until Lin spoke again.

"My family is poor. I came here on a Scholarship," she said quietly. "Even if it looks like I'm a slut or something, I still have good grades. I can't let my grades drop or my parents will get mad at me.

They're not really nice people, see. They didn't want me. They told me I was a mistake. They got poor because of me." Lin bitterly laughed. "They say I'm a waste of space."

Sherlock took his eyes off the road to look at her sincerely. "I don't think you're a waste of space."

"Thank you, Sherlock. This means a lot."

Sherlock pulled into an empty parking lot in front of Café Amoretto.

"Nice Café choice. Café Cupid," Lin said.

"It suits the occasion." Sherlock shrugged.

They went in the Café and sat down near the windows.

The café was beautiful. It had white laced curtains and antique figures that decorated the window panes. Instead of a café, it looked more like the house of an old couple.

A waiter with dirty blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes approached them, holding a notepad and a pencil.

"Coffee, black, two sugars," Sherlock told the waiter.

"Chocolate latte, please," Lin said.

The waiter nodded, leaving the two to themselves.

"Hey, Sherlock? What school did you come from?" Lin asked.

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, you just moved in so fast in the middle of the year. And you're incredibly smart. I was just wondering if you came from... London Academy of the Special?"

Sherlock's heart dropped when he heard the school's name. He didn't want to remember that. It was in the past.

"No." Sherlock shook his head, swallowing his nervousness.

"It's okay, Sherlock. If it makes you feel any better, I once studied there too."

A/N: I just thought that it would be cute for John and Sherlock helping eachother for their seperate dates and Sherlock having an almost equal and I feel bad because something bad is going to happen... yah... I'm so sorry.
