Chapter 9: Friend? Friend.

Sherlock

Sherlock glanced at the book in his hands, before setting it on his desk.

He knew John was upset by his actions, but they had been needed. He had known that John would be very useful for solving some of the school's mysteries and he'd been right. He was friends with Lin, which made it much easier to snoop around.

Plus, he had access to the restricted side of the library. With John, he could go there without raising too much suspicion. There were documents about the school amazed Sherlock-just a bit. Not that much.

"Oh, hey Sherlock." His dorm mate, Charles Queen entered the dorm and put his bag on the foot of his bed.

"Hi, Charles." Sherlock wasn't too keen on speaking with Charles. He was too popular and he didn't want to mix up with that kind of people.

"I saw John. He kept muttering things like 'Sherlock is a pretentious bastard' or 'he is a robot.' Something happened?" A lump formed in his throat. He didn't know he'd hurt John that much. But why was he experiencing guilt? He was just acting. Wasn't he?

"I... I have to go." Sherlock grabbed his coat and scarf, leaving the room to Charles.

"Hey, Sherlock." Sherlock turned back and Charles was at the door fringe.

"Say hi to John for me. Say I'm sorry for being the pretentious bastard." Sherlock nodded, not really getting it at the moment, because all he could think of was John.

He ran to John's dorm room, slipping his coat on, scarf in hand and didn't even bother to knock when he opened the dorm.

"Umm... excuse me, but who are you?" John wasn't there. Sherlock decided to leave without explaining anything to the boy on the bed, who was reading a Harry Potter book.

"John? John?" Sherlock went to the courtyard, tying the navy blue scarf around his neck as he walked beneath the few trees.

"Goodbye, John. Tell Sherlock I send him my love." Sherlock went around a tree and saw a silhouette disappear from the other side. Then he saw John standing up, completely still, as if he was a statue instead of a person.

"John!" Sherlock hugged the other boy, not knowing why he even hugged another human being. Maybe it was because he needed a friend in his life.

"Sh... Sherlock?" Sherlock smiled when he heard the voice. It was like Heaven had sent an Angel to earth who stood in front of him.

"To answer your question, John, yes, I act, but I consider you my friend," Sherlock said, burying his head in John's shoulder, tears spilling from his eyes.

You're my only friend.
