District 2
Taylor Lautner’s p.o.v
I introduced myself to Nathan Sykes, the District 1 career tribute. I had never met a career tribute before, but because I wanted to be one, I needed to form an allie with someone that was one. That way my chances of winning were maximised. Listening to his interview with the main hosts instilled confidence in me. He sounded so self-assured, as if he knew without a doubt that he could win the Games. I really wished I could have the confidence that he clearly had. But if I could make the main hosts and the public believe that I was confident, then that was half of the battle already over.
Jessie J: Taylor Lautner everyone!
Danny O: So Taylor, first of all, you dropped your axe, almost on purpose. Did you do that for Michelle Keegan?
Taylor: Um, not really. Michelle dropped hers by accident. I dropped mine so that it wouldn’t look like an accident.
Jessie J: Here at the Capitol, we really love a good romance story. Are we going to get one between you and Michelle?
Taylor: No. I like Michelle as a friend but there is absolutely no romantic attachment there whatsoever.
Danny O: But you are physically attracted to her right?
Taylor: I’m not here for romance, I’m here to win the Games. Anything other than that I’m not interested in.
Jessie J: OK, let’s move on. Taylor, you got a 9 at training, how did you manage that?
Taylor: I guess I’m just really good with an axe, which is why it was part of my outfit today.
Danny O: Being good at something doesn’t get you a near-perfect score. That’s to do with dedication and passion. For someone who got picked rather than volunteered, had you been prepared to be here?
Taylor: I… I had a feeling that I would be here, but I didn’t practice my skill with an axe. That training score was down to luck and coincidence, seriously.
Jessie J: So, because you were picked I have to ask you, if you weren’t picked, would you have volunteered?
Taylor: I don’t think so. I mean, I will do all that I can to win, but I would never choose this. Apart from people who volunteer for their family, I really don’t understand how anyone could willingly sign up for this. It confuses me.
Danny O: And what about your family back home? How do they feel about you competing?
Taylor: I think any parents wouldn’t want their child to be where I am right now, but they’ll cope. My parents want me to win, and they really do believe that I can.
Jessie J: So they’re ok with you killing people?
