"I'm glad you don't have an allie" Rochelle Humes said to Victoria Justice. Victoria answered with a smile. "I know, it's nice to have someone on my side for a change" she said. Rochelle turned to face her. "For a change? What do you mean?" She asked. Victoria took a deep breath. "I get bullied... a lot. People in my District think I'm worthless and that I can't fight..." she trailed off. "Is that why you volunteered?" Rochelle asked her. Victoria shrugged before speaking again. "I just want people to understand that I can do things. I'm not worthless. Really, I can win these Games" she said defiantly. "Victoria. You're strong. You're not worthless. No matter what happens, know that those people didn't know you and don't understand how amazing you are" Rochelle said, taking Victoria's hand. As they hugged, there was a weird sound in the air. "What's that?" Rochelle questioned as Victoria's body went limp in her arms. As she dropped the girl, she noticed an axe sticking out of her back. "Ahh" she screamed. Then she leant down over Victoria's body. She was dead, there was no doubt about that. As she heard the footsteps of the attacker, she grabbed Victoria's pack and scrambled out of sight, before someone tried to kill her too. She couldn't take the risk.

Ed Sheeran heard the cannons go off and thanked God that, again, his life had been spared. He couldn't stop thinking about his life back home. If he wasn't here right now, he'd be at home, with his girlfriend, getting ready to welcome their baby into the world. Not that that would be happening for another 8 months but that wasn't the point. It hurt to know that he might not get to be in his child's life. He sang the song that he wrote to himself. Listening to it now, it took on much more meaning. It wasn't just for his family or just for Ellie, it was for his baby, the child that he had created. If nothing else, he wanted his child to know how much he loved them, how much he thought about them. They were never off of his mind. But he had to prove himself. He had run into no one, and he knew that if he didn't show what he could do soon, he would be a target. That was the last thing he needed.

Conor Maynard also heard the cannon. He couldn't stop thinking about Selena Gomez. Each cannon just meant that the end of the Games was getting closer and closer. And it was scary. He thought that Selena would have been someone who could have gone all the way. But the fact that she was killed early on in the process meant that it was anybody's game. If career tributes could be killed, then someone as insignificant as him could die and nobody would even look twice. Here in the arena, he didn't know if he would have the guts to kill someone. If someone tried to attack him, then that would be completely fine. However, if someone was just minding their own business, he couldn't kill them. Because he wouldn't someone to kill him. Although he had been chosen and wasn't able to make the decision for himself, he knew that it had been the right choice. If he won this competition, his younger siblings would have lifetime security. They needed this. He needed to make their lives as easy as possible. And the only way to do this was the win the Games.

Ed Sheeran continued to walk through the forest. He had a baton to warn off any people that were approaching him. He listened carefully, as he thought he could hear rustling. As he turned slowly, he was Conor Maynard running in his direction. He recognised him from his interview, so he knew that it would be easy to kill him. "Stop!" Ed shouted, blocking Conor off and standing in his way. However, Conor's reflexes were quick as he pulled out a gun. He had found it along the way and knew that he would be needing it. Ed held up his hands. "Please don't kill me" he whispered. Out of the corner of their eyes, they both noticed a silver parachute. This signified a gift from either a sponsor, or a family member or friend. It landed in front of Ed. He picked it up and opened it to reveal a small knife. Wrapped around it was a note:

I told them to only send this to you when it looked like you were in trouble.

You've done really well to keep safe so far, we're all really proud of you.

This is so much easier to write down than it would be to say to your face, so in a way I'm glad that you're not here.

I hit the two month mark today. I thought you might want to know that, to be kept up to date.

I just wanted to tell you that it's ok if you die.

I'll make sure that our baby knows how amazingly strong and brave their daddy was. Because I know I'll never forget it.

Ellie xx

Ed didn't realise the tears were building up until they were rolling down his face. "I'm sorry I won't be there" he whispered. "What?" Conor Maynard asked him, trying to appear tough but secretly grateful for the time that the note had brought them both. Ed thought swiftly and stabbed Conor in the chest, aiming for his heart. Conor screamed out in pain and Ed took this opportunity to run. As he turned his back, Conor grabbed his gun and shot him. Ed fell to the floor. Conor walked up to him, clutching his chest tightly, knowing that Ed's hit had been successful. "I'm sorry" he whispered, laying down beside Ed, as they both drifted away, disrupted only by the sound of the canon, sounding twice.
