Michelle Keegan thought of her sister. She had survived the night, and the only person she could think of was Tina. She taught Tina to see the good in everyone, but getting through the night and seeing the faces of the dead tributes lit up into the sky helped her see the truth. If she didn't kill, she would be killed. She knew that hiding in a tree would be her best bet, as most people did. She could see people on the ground and not be seen by them. As she awoke, she as immediately glad that she had volunteered. Her baby sister wouldn't have been able to cope. She couldn't have climbed a tree and she wouldn't have survived the night. Michelle had no weapons in her pack. She had a bow and arrow but she had no idea how to use them. Luckily, she did have enough water and food to last her at least the rest of the day, which she was grateful for. Looking around her, she noticed that it was quiet. There was no one around and she could let her guard down. As she climbed down from the tree, she began to explore. After all, you never knew when it would be your last moment.
Taylor Lautner and Nathan Sykes had also survived the night. They roamed freely, taking it in turns to aim their weapons at the surrounding forest. When they found out that Selena Gomez, the only other career tribute, had died, they were happy and confident. They were the biggest threat in the Games, and they wanted everyone to be aware of them, to fear them. "When do you think you'll make you're first kill?" Nathan asked Taylor. He had made his first kill with Carly Rae Jepsen and was excited to make more. "I have no idea, as soon as someone crosses our path I guess" Taylor said. He was less excited than Nathan about killing people. He knew his dad would be watching him and he wanted to make the man proud. He didn't want to be viewed as a murderer. He was willing to kill people, and he knew that he would, but that wasn't all there was to him. These thoughts were running through his mind as Nathan led the way. He wasn't paying attention as he heard Nathan cry out in pain. He ran to him to see an arrow sticking out of his chest. He looked around him, to see Michelle Keegan holding a bow.
As Michelle spotted Nathan and Taylor walking around, she knew she had to do it. They were walking around as if no one would be any match for them, just because they were career tributes. She wanted to prove that she could beat them. So she took her bow, and aimed at Taylor. But of course, because she couldn't aim to save her life, she missed, striking Nathan instead. She didn't know what to do, so she stood still in silence, hearing as Nathan cried out and Taylor ran to him. She could have hidden in the bushes, ran away before they even had the chance to spot her. But her conscience took over. While she was teaching Tina to see the good in people, some of it had rubbed off on her. She walked up to them and grimaced as Taylor ripped the arrow out of Nathan's chest, and she'd never felt more guilty.
Taylor didn't know why she was doing this. She had shot his allie, and was now coming over to them, looking apologetic. "Leave before I kill you" he warned her. After all they'd been through, he didn't want to be the one to do it. "I just want to say sorry" she replied, looking sad. "You're in this to win, you shouldn't be sorry. It's what has to happen" he said to her. "Why are you being nice? Why haven't you killed me?" She asked, still coming closer as he tried to put pressure on the wound, as he tried to keep Nathan alive. "The reason I haven't killed you is the same reason that I dropped my weapon in the opening ceremony. You're a good person, and I don't want you to die" he said as Nathan groaned in pain. "I want to help" Michelle said, leaning over Nathan and looking at his wound. "Get out of here. I don't want to kill you Michelle" he begged her. "Let me help you, help Nathan, I know what I'm doing. Tina used to get cuts and scrapes all the time" She said seriously. "A stab wound is a bit more than a cut or scrape" he said, smirking. "We need to get something to bandage it. We can't do anything else until we get some medicine" she said, still leaning over the wound. "I have medicine in my pack" Taylor said, rushing to get the little bottle that was floating around in the bottom of it. He quickly opened it and fed some of it to Nathan. He instantly started to look better, his pale skin darkening. "It's working" Michelle whispered. "Michelle, I have to let everyone see me as a career tribute, I can't involve personal feeling" Taylor said, looking regretful. "What does that mean? Do you still want me to leave?" Michelle asked, looking sad. She wanted to allie with Taylor. At least then she would be safe. "I don't want you to leave. But Nathan can't wake up and see you here" Taylor said, anxious about the fact that Nathan was already beginning to wake up. "So what do you want me to do?" Michelle asked. "Nothing, just, look around, make sure we're safe" he said. As she looked around, he picked up the axe that he had found along the way, stood up silently, and plunged it into her chest, killing her instantly. As he looked at her body, he remembered what she meant to him, and he knew that killing her was the right decision. He needed to eradicate all personal relationships, no matter how much it hurt.
