... Elizabeth ...
Darkness is the only word to describe the level of pain I'm feeling. It's not even red with pain, it's so dark it's black. I would do anything to just dim it a little.
It's almost as if I'm nowhere. Or everywhere all at once. I see everything and nothing, the blackness shifting to reveal pictures. Is this what death feels like? No, I'm still in too much pain.
Then all of a sudden, I can start hearing voices. "She should have been up a couple of days ago. Do you think something's wrong?" Is that Masons voice?
I hear purring and I feel something soft stroking my upper arm. It feels nice. I hear a couple of machines beeping and the smell of blood fills the air. AB- to be exact.
"She was staked, what do you think?" An annoyed voice replies and something squeezes my hand. I lightly squeeze it back. "Hold on, I think she just squeezed my hand."
I feel a rough, callused hand squeeze on my other arm, but I don't squeeze it back. It's the hand of Daniel. What is he doing here?
I try to open my eyes, but it feels like there's forty pound weights on them. I manage to get them halfway, the sun blinding my eyes. I blink a couple of times to get the blurriness away.
Isaac was the one to squeeze my hand the first time. He smiles as if he just found out the world will continue spinning. Mason is sitting next to him, looking tired but determined not to leave.
On my other side is Daniel, and he is holding my hand. I snatch it away from him and grimace at the sudden movement on my lungs. He looks hurt, but I know better than to fall for that face.
"What are you doing here?" I rasp out. "I thought you broke up with me." I add bitterly.
"Can we just forget about that? I don't know what I was thinking." Does he honestly think I'm that desperate?
"Let's recap. You said you didn't love or want me anymore. You also called me a bloodsucking vampire, parasite, leech, demon, and a monster." I snarl. "You also threatened to kill Blaise. If you touch a hair on..." My heart starts beating faster, pressing on the spot the stake was.
"Hey, calm down." Isaac presses my shoulders back, causing me to lay down again. The pain dims a bit, but the pain is a distraction from my anger. My anger is almost consuming.
"How could you?" I whisper, tears welling in my eyes.
"Lizzy, look-"I cut him off.
"Do not call me that ever." I growl.
"Well, look, I have no idea what I was thinking when I dumped you. I was so mean to you. You have every right to be mad." He holds up his hands.
"You think this is all just because I'm mad? No, I'm not running back to you like a love sick puppy." I pause for a breath. "You hurt me really bad. I sat at Carnival Park and cried for the rest of the night, waiting for you to come back and say you were being stupid. But you didn't. You left me alone and without a car." My breath is coming in gasps now.
"Dude, just leave. She obviously doesn't want you here." Mason stands up and Isaac squeezes my hand.
"But..." He attempts to argue, but Blaise stands up from next to me and hisses at him. That gets him out pretty fast.
Thank you.
No problem. I love you.
Love you to.
I run my hand down his back and he purrs. I close my eyes and drift back to sleep.
